Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis La música del siglo XX by : Francisco Ramos
Download or read book La música del siglo XX written by Francisco Ramos and published by Turner. This book was released on 2016-04 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Film Music written by Roy M. Prendergast and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 1992 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The expanded, updated, and revised edition of Film Music brings together the experience and insights of the professional film music editor with the scholarship and concerns of the film critic and historian. In this pioneering work, film music--from its beginnings to the present day--is analyzed both as composition and as an integral element of cinematic expression. Beginning with an extensive historical overview, the author recreates the process by which film music composers developed their own forms out of typical screen action. The techniques and achievements of filmmakers from the silent and early sound film eras to the 1990s are examined, including the unique demands of music for the rapidly changing images of cartoons and animated films. A new chapter about music for television has been added to the very informative discussion of techniques for synchronizing music to picture. And the latest technological advances are described in an entirely new section dealing with contemporary methods and tools, including video post-production, the advent of digital audio, and the pervasive influence of the music synthesizer. Replete with music examples drawn from actual film scores, this comprehensive study concludes with an extensive and up-to-date bibliography of related reference works.

Download or read book Gilles Deleuze written by Paola Marrati and published by JHU Press. This book was released on 2008-05-07 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2008 Outstanding Academic Title, Choice Magazine In recent years, the recognition of Gilles Deleuze as one of the major philosophers of the twentieth century has heightened attention to his brilliant and complex writings on film. What is the place of Cinema 1 and Cinema 2 in the corpus of his philosophy? How and why does Deleuze consider cinema as a singular object of philosophical attention, a specific mode of thought? How does his philosophy of film combine and further his approaches to time, movement, and perception, and how does it produce an escape from subjectivity and a plunge into the immanence of images? How does it recode and utilize Henri Bergson's thought and André Bazin's film theory? What does it tell us about perceiving a world in images—indeed about our relation to the world? These are the central questions addressed in Paola Marrati's powerful and clear elucidation of Deleuze's philosophy of film. Humanities, film studies, and social science scholars will find this book a valuable contribution to the philosophical literature on cinema and its pertinence in contemporary life.
