This book was released on 2004-09-24 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rapid Prototyping and allied fields are still relatively young technologies and, as such, their scope and range are expanding at a dramatic rate. New and improved techniques and applicationsare developing and this is reflected in the varied topics covered in Rapid Design, Prototyping and Manufacture. Efforts to extend the scope of application of three dimensional printing processes is an important milestone in rapid manufacture. This is being vigorously addressed and is well represented in this volume. It now seems to be only a matter of time before three-dimensional printing units will join other peripherals in office and domestic computer systems to produce toys, small domestic and office items on demand. CONTENTS INCLUDE: Analysis of the application of the Z-corps three dimensional printing system for rapid tooling for plastic injection moulded components. A novel method for rapid prototyping/tooling/manufacture - Shell/Assisted Layer Manufacture (SALM) Accuracy of a novel fused deposition modelling technology New software tools for reverse engineering parts based on three-dimensional volumetric scans. A stuctured approach to the simplification of optimization problems in the virtual prototyping environment The appropriate application of computer-aided design and manufacture techniques in silicone facial prosthetics Application of the Z-Corps three-dimensional printing processes using novel material to manufacture bio-scaffold for bone replacement Rapid prototyping manufacture of complex three-dimensional microscaffolds used in regenerative medicine.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: OPTIMIZATION of INDUSTRIAL SYSTEMS Including the latest industrial solution-based practical applications, this is the most comprehensive and up-to-date study of the optimization of industrial systems for engineers, scientists, students, and other professionals. In order to deal with societal challenges, novel technologies play an important role. For the advancement of technology, it is essential to share innovative ideas and thoughts on a common platform where researchers across the globe meet together and revitalize their knowledge and skills to tackle the challenges that the world faces. The high complexity of the issues related to societal interdisciplinary research is the key to future revolutions. From research funders to journal editors, policymakers to think tanks, all seem to agree that the future of research lies outside disciplinary boundaries. In such prevailing conditions, various working scenarios, conditions, and strategies need to be optimized. Optimization is a multidisciplinary term, and its essence can be inculcated in any domain of business, research, and other associated working dynamics. Globalization provides all-around development, and this development is impossible without technological contributions. This volume’s mission is at the core of industrial engineering. All the manuscripts appended in this volume were double-blind peer-reviewed by committee members and the review team, promising high-quality research. This book provides deep insights to its readers about the current scenarios and future advancements of industrial engineering.

Book Synopsis Advances in Autonomous Mini Robots by : Ulrich Rückert
Download or read book Advances in Autonomous Mini Robots written by Ulrich Rückert and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-03-07 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Autonomous robots must carry out useful tasks all by themselves relying entirely on their own perceptions of their environment. The cognitive abilities required for autonomous action are largely independent of robot size, which makes mini robots attractive as artefacts for research, education and entertainment. Autonomous mini robots must be small enough for experimentation on a desktop or a small laboratory. They must be easy to carry and safe for interaction with humans. They must not be expensive. Mini robot designers have to work at the leading edge of technology so that their creations can carry out purposeful autonomic action under these constraints. Since 2001 researchers have met every two years for an international symposium to report on the advances achieved in Autonomous Mini Robots for Research and Edutainment (AMiRE). The AMiRE Symposium is a single track conference that offers ample opportunities for discussion and exchange of ideas. This volume contains the contributed papers of the 2011 AMiRE Symposium held from 23 to 25 May 2011 at Bielefeld University, Germany. The contributions in this volume represent the state-of-the-art of autonomous mini robots; they demonstrate what is currently technically feasible and show some of the applications for autonomous mini robots.

Book Synopsis Dynamic Failure of Materials and Structures by : Arun Shukla
Download or read book Dynamic Failure of Materials and Structures written by Arun Shukla and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-10-20 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dynamic Failure of Materials and Structures discusses the topic of dynamic loadings and their effect on material and structural failure. Since dynamic loading problems are very difficult as compared to their static counterpart, very little information is currently available about dynamic behavior of materials and structures. Topics covered include the response of both metallic as well as polymeric composite materials to blast loading and shock loadings, impact loadings and failure of novel materials under more controlled dynamic loads. These include response of soft materials that are important in practical use but have very limited information available on their dynamic response. Dynamic fragmentation, which has re-emerged in recent years has also been included. Both experimental as well as numerical aspects of material and structural response to dynamic loads are discussed. Written by several key experts in the field, Dynamic Failure of Materials and Structures will appeal to graduate students and researchers studying dynamic loadings within mechanical and civil engineering, as well as in physics and materials science.
