Book Synopsis Research in Verbal Behavior and Some Neurophysiological Implications by : Kurt Salzinger
Download or read book Research in Verbal Behavior and Some Neurophysiological Implications written by Kurt Salzinger and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 529 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research in Verbal Behavior and Some Neurophysiological Implications focuses on varied approaches to the study of language, including verbal behavior in animals, mimicry, linguistics, and verbal satiation. The selection first offers information on verbal behavior in animals and dolphin's vocal mimicry as a unique ability and a way toward understanding. The book also ponders on the problem of response class in verbal behavior and verbal operant conditioning and awareness. Discussions focus on state of the organism as a determinant of response class, topography of response, common stimulus, and common effect. The publication takes a look at a behavioral basis for the polarity principle in linguistics, acquisition of grammar by children, and interdependencies of the bilingual's two languages. The manuscript also elaborates on verbal satiation and exploration of meaning relations and grammatical indicants of speaking style in normal and aphasic speakers. The selection is highly recommended for readers wanting to study verbal behavior.

Download or read book Sound & Hearing written by R. Duncan Luce and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2013-05-13 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The major aim of this book is to introduce the ways in which scientists approach and think about a phenomenon -- hearing -- that intersects three quite different disciplines: the physics of sound sources and the propagation of sound through air and other materials, the anatomy and physiology of the transformation of the physical sound into neural activity in the brain, and the psychology of the perception we call hearing. Physics, biology, and psychology each play a role in understanding how and what we hear. The text evolved over the past decade in an attempt to convey something about scientific thinking, as evidenced in the domain of sounds and their perception, to students whose primary focus is not science. It does so using a minimum of mathematics (high school functions such as linear, logarithmic, sine, and power) without compromising scientific integrity. A significant enrichment is the availability of a compact disc (CD) containing over 20 examples of acoustic demonstrations referred to in the book. These demonstrations, which range from echo effects and filtered noise to categorical speech perception and total more than 45 minutes, are invaluable resources for making the text come alive.

This book was released on 2017-06-17 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book includes selected contributions related to big data and data networking, presented at the 13th International Conference on Computing and Information Technology (IC2IT), which was held at the Arnoma Grand Hotel Bangkok, Thailand, July 6–7, 2017. The aim of the conference was to present emerging algorithms, methods and technologies with a high degree of originality, novelty and innovation addressing the conference theme `Mastering Data and Networking’. Section 1 and 2 discuss various aspects of data mining and corresponding applications. Section 3 focuses on speed and overhead networking optimisation problems, as well as energy problems of autonomous systems, which are becoming increasingly important. The key to addressing these problems is properly determining critical parameters. Section 4 sheds light on natural language processing, including extraction of trends and popularity and recognition of emotions as well as classic topics such as detection and classification.
