Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2017 in the subject Social Studies (General), , language: English, abstract: This study aims to identify if exercise has an impact on meaningful life. In the study 193 respondents participated out of which 75 were males and 24 were female respondents of age group 30 to 70 years of age. It was a quantitative study. In the study many scales were used to measure the overall health status, perceived health status and perceived meaningful life. The study revealed that stress life and health status of individuals will predict meaningful life. The reduced stress life and improved health status will lead to meaningful life. The study revealed that respondents above 50 years of age were limited to certain activities such as climbing stairs or moving an object due to their current health status. The study also revealed that there was no significant difference in perception of overall health status and in perception of meaningful life within respondents of age group below 50 and above 50 years of age but there was significant difference in perceived stress life between both age groups. The study also revealed that perception of overall health status, perception of meaningful life and stress life is moderate among respondents. The implication to policy maker is as there are many health benefit of exercise so IT companies can take daily session s for their employees which can reduce absenteeism. Employees will be more productive if daily sessions are given to them. As older age group people above 50 years of age had experience limitations in performing certain daily activities such as climbing stairs etc., so hospitals can create awareness for people above 40 years of age to go for regular health checkup as to be healthy which will benefit the society as well.

Book excerpt: Now in its second edition, Applied Exercise Psychology emphasizes the application of evidence-based knowledge drawn from the fields of exercise psychology, health psychology, clinical and counseling psychology, and exercise physiology for physical activity behavior change. Thoroughly revised, the new edition offers readers: two new chapters covering Excusercise and Mood Alteration’s link to exercise; fully updated sections on current research and theoretical bases for understanding and promoting physical activity behavior; interventions for facilitating physical activity behavior change and the tools for measuring the effectiveness of these interventions; cross-cultural considerations for practitioners to ensure multicultural competency; considerations to guide best practices with special populations (e.g., persons with medical conditions and persons with mental health conditions); overall applied implications and future directions. An essential read that covers a variety of critical topics in applied exercise psychology, it brings often overlooked issues to the attention of practitioners to promote not only evidence-based practice but also responsible ethics and referral. The collection is a key reference for up-to-date research findings, relevant field experiences, and applied implications.
