Download or read book Active learning in ecology field-based learning written by Bianca Carolina Rossi and published by EdUNITAU. This book was released on 2021-05-06 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When we think about education, a teacher comes to mind, a classroom, walls, windows, desks, a closed building. However, what about a school with no walls for a moment? A teaching work with more student participation? Active learning is necessary and can be associated with the scientific method as well, with students developing cognitive and social-emotional skills, working as a team, thinking about questions, hypotheses, collecting their data, and learning to use mathematics in the analysis and improve writing skills to produce a manuscript. This manual presents this idea with information and guidelines for conducting classes within a tropical rainforest and exploring Ecology questions.
Book Synopsis Business-State Relations under PT Governments by : Stefanie Tomé Schmitt
Download or read book Business-State Relations under PT Governments written by Stefanie Tomé Schmitt and published by Editora Dialética. This book was released on 2022-02-21 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) – Workers Party, Governments in Brazil, non-electoral and extra-parliamentary political participation grew significantly. Both Lula and Rousseff used an increasing number of mechanisms of participation, known in Portuguese as órgãos colegiados – "collegiate bodies", for democratizing political decisions. Stefanie Tomé Schmitt's book addresses the impacts of participatory policy-making on business-state relations under the New Developmentalism. Her research uncovers business participation in 125 collegiate bodies based on data collected with the peak sectoral corporatist business associations of agriculture, commerce, industry and financial services. It discloses a formalized pattern of business politics linked to the use of Corporatist Institutions, exposing a gap between Political Sociology and Political Economy approaches to interest representation in Brazil. In joining the rule configuration assessment with a process tracing of participatory policy-making in employment, innovation, and biodiversity, her investigation also reveals that engendering a more formalized pattern of business politics relied on more than choices of institutional design promoting business inclusiveness: it was contingent on business and government commitment building within mechanisms of participation and in related policy networks.

Book Synopsis The Route Towards Global Sustainability by : Pardeep Singh
Download or read book The Route Towards Global Sustainability written by Pardeep Singh and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-11 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume discusses topics of global sustainability involving sustainability indicators, stakeholders' participation, and technological and strategic advances with the goal of "thinking locally to act globally". Scientists, academics, policymakers, and planners are currently focused on escalating global socioeconomic and ecological issues, such as rising inequality, adverse anthropogenic impacts on the environment, and deficiencies in natural resources. These variables are pushing the earth system's resistance capacity past its breaking point, with additional pressures incurred by a global pandemic. Therefore, this book looks to impart knowledge on participatory learning action research for human and environmental health and well-being. Sustainable development planning and management are needed in these pressing circumstances, and they necessitate an analytical interpretation of ongoing processes, current and future challenges, and an understanding of available tools and technologies. The main sections of the book focus on challenges and management practices for global sustainability, promoting educational values, smart initiatives in urban contexts, and integrating emerging sustainability dimensions in policies and legislation. The primary audience for the work is policy makers, urban planners, social scientists, economists, NGOs, and students, researchers, and educators engaged in environmental social science and sustainability management.

Book Synopsis Schooling for Sustainable Development in South America by : Maria Lucia de Amorim Soares
Download or read book Schooling for Sustainable Development in South America written by Maria Lucia de Amorim Soares and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-08-24 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book supplies both empirical evidence and scholarly analysis that exemplify successful innovation in South America in the field of sustainability education. Examining the issues from a three-fold perspective, of national policy, regional planning and grassroots projects in schools and communities, the volume offers a comprehensive overview of the contemporary situation in Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Argentina and Venezuela. It provides case studies as detailed illustrations of the recipe for success as well as to inform researchers and practitioners of the kinds of obstacles and challenges they might face in seeking to manifest sustainability. A good deal of the research and scholarly studies in the field of education for sustainability and sustainable development is underpinned by ‘Western’ norms and culture. This book draws on that literature, yet also teases out features in the case studies that are particular to the region. South America itself encompasses a rich variety of natural and cultural environments—within individual nations as much as continent-wide. This diversity is a recurring theme in the book. The volume’s three sections provide first a general survey, enriched with material from studies conducted in a number of different polities. The second section covers developments in Brazil, South America’s largest nation and one that exhibits many of the features of education for sustainability found across the continent. Part three sets out and explores future trends. As with other books in the Schooling for Sustainable Development series, this volume will add impetus to scholarly exchange as well as contributing insights on education policy and curriculum changes across South American communities that exist in an increasingly globalized world.
