Book Synopsis Social Innovation, the Social Economy and World Economic Development by : Denis Harrisson
Download or read book Social Innovation, the Social Economy and World Economic Development written by Denis Harrisson and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2009 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world of work and labour is in a permanent transformation affecting the various social groups in the different parts of the world quite unequally. Social innovations, related to the idea of economic progress and well-being, tackle the problems of employment leading to social exclusion and poverty as a consequence of the extreme positioning in favour of economic performance. An alternative economy complements the deficiency of both the market and the State. This volume presents contributions from scholars coming from different continents, about Social Economy, Labour Rights, corporate Social Responsibility, Social Regulations and Public Policies. Social innovations have huge impacts on national and regional economies as their sources come from the citizen. Many initiatives presented in this volume are a social response by civil society to poverty, precarious employment, job losses, long term unemployment, delocalisation and de-industrialisation.

Book Synopsis Tackling Social Exclusion in Europe by : Roger Spear
Download or read book Tackling Social Exclusion in Europe written by Roger Spear and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the result of an international study by leading economists and sociologists from across Europe and North America. The response of the new social economy (primarily voluntary and co-operative sectors) to social exclusion and employability in the context of crises of unemployment and the welfare state is of wide international concern. This book looks specifically at the growth of enterprises and initiatives whose primary aim is the integration of unemployed and disadvantaged people into work. A common framework has been used in each of the country studies, thus allowing an interesting international comparative perspective to be developed. There is considerable interest in how the third sector is changing internationally in response to rapidly changing work and welfare systems. By distilling international experience this book makes an important contribution to debates about new ways of addressing the central issues of unemployment and social exclusion of disadvantaged people in society.

Book Synopsis The Solidarity Economy by : Jean-Louis Laville
Download or read book The Solidarity Economy written by Jean-Louis Laville and published by U of Minnesota Press. This book was released on 2023-08-22 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Questioning the boundaries between politics and economics Jean-Louis Laville’s large body of work has focused on an intellectual history of the concept of solidarity since the Industrial Revolution. In The Solidarity Economy, his most famous distillation of this work, Laville establishes how the formations of economic solidarities (unions, activism, and other forms of associationalism) reveal that the boundaries between politics and economics are porous and structured such that politics, ideally a pure expression of ethics and values, is instead integrated with economic concerns. Exploring the possibilities and long histories of association, The Solidarity Economy identifies the power of contemporary social and solidarity movements and examines the history of postcapitalist practices in which democratic demands invade the heart of the economy. The Solidarity Economy ranges in focus from workers associations in France dating back to the nineteenth century, to associations of African Americans and feminists in the United States in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, to a Brazilian landless-worker coalition in the twentieth century. Studying solidarity associations over time allows us to examine how we can recombine the economic and political spheres to address dependencies and inequalities. Ultimately, The Solidarity Economy has global scope and inspiring examples of associations that deepen democracy.

This book was released on 2013-11-25 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the late 1970s, feminists urged us to "rethink" Canada by placing women's experiences at the centre of historical analysis. Forty years later, women's and gender historians continue to take up the challenge, not only to interrogate the idea of nation but also to place their work in a global perspective. This volume showcases the work of scholars who draw on critical race theory, postcolonial theory, and transnational history to re-examine familiar topics such as biography and oral history, paid and unpaid work, marriage and family, and women's political action. Taken together, these exciting new essays demonstrate the continued relevance of history informed by feminist perspectives.

Book Synopsis Droit de la finance alternative by : Jean-Marc Moulin
Download or read book Droit de la finance alternative written by Jean-Marc Moulin and published by Bruylant. This book was released on 2017-05-11 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Jeunes Et L'exclusion Dans Les Quartiers Défavorisés by : Paul Soto Hardiman
Download or read book Jeunes Et L'exclusion Dans Les Quartiers Défavorisés written by Paul Soto Hardiman and published by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2004-01-01 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication examines the issue of social cohesion as it relates to young people living in urban environments. There are two major reports on violence and social exclusion: the first looks at these issues in a European context, taking account of the extent and causes of urban deprivation, and how this links to youth violence. The second report concentrates on the UK, and on the social transition from a welfare state to a stakeholder/welfare society. Both reports look at issues of crime prevention, youth employment, projects for training initiatives, and urban design processes. Both reports find examples of good practice, and recommends methods to regenerate social cohesion.
