Book Synopsis Dust Control Handbook for Industrial Minerals Mining and Processing by : Andrew B. Andrew B. Cecala

This book was released on 2015-05-09 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout the mining and processing of minerals, the mined ore undergoes a number of crushing, grinding, cleaning, drying, and product sizing operations as it is processed into a marketable commodity. These operations are highly mechanized, and both individually and collectively these processes can generate large amounts of dust. If control technologies are inadequate, hazardous levels of respirable dust may be liberated into the work environment, potentially exposing workers. Accordingly, federal regulations are in place to limit the respirable dust exposure of mine workers. Engineering controls are implemented in mining operations in an effort to reduce dust generation and limit worker exposure.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unfortunately, dust explosions are common and costly in a wide array of industries such as petrochemical, food, paper and pharmaceutical. It is imperative that practical and theoretical knowledge of the origin, development, prevention and mitigation of dust explosions is imparted to the responsible safety manager. The material in this book offers an up to date evaluation of prevalent activities, testing methods, design measures and safe operating techniques. Also provided is a detailed and comprehensive critique of all the significant phases relating to the hazard and control of a dust explosion. An invaluable reference work for industry, safety consultants and students. - A completely new chapter on design of electrical equipment to be used in areas containing combustible/explosible dust - A substantially extended and re-organized final review chapter, containing nearly 400 new literature references from the years 1997-2002 - Extensive cross-referencing from the original chapters 1-7 to the corresponding sections of the expanded review chapter

Book excerpt: The purpose of this manual is to provide clear and helpful information for maintaining gravel roads. Very little technical help is available to small agencies that are responsible for managing these roads. Gravel road maintenance has traditionally been "more of an art than a science" and very few formal standards exist. This manual contains guidelines to help answer the questions that arise concerning gravel road maintenance such as: What is enough surface crown? What is too much? What causes corrugation? The information is as nontechnical as possible without sacrificing clear guidelines and instructions on how to do the job right.

Book Synopsis Control of Dust from Construction and Demolition Activities by : Vina Kukadia
Download or read book Control of Dust from Construction and Demolition Activities written by Vina Kukadia and published by Bre Press. This book was released on 2010-11 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication deals with the common and well-recognised problem of control of nuisance dust emissions from construction and civil engineering activities. Fine particles can be carried from sites even in light winds and may have an adverse effect on the local environment and on the health of local residents, as well as those working on site. It indicates how dust and fine particle generation from construction and demolition activities can be substantially reduced. Dust control measures are outlined for specific processes (such as the movement of vehicles and construction plant, materials handling and storage, cutting, grinding, grouting, grit blasting, concrete batching and pouring), and advice is also given on pre-project planning, implementation and site management - together with checklists for use by all sizes and types of construction activity.
