Book excerpt: "Dunki: Navigating the Shadows of Immigration - Understanding, Challenges, and Solutions" is a book that takes you on a journey to understand why some people move to another country illegally. It talks about the difficulties they face and the reasons behind their decision. The book starts by explaining what illegal immigration is and why it's essential to know about it. It then explores why people leave their homes, discussing factors like not having enough money, problems in their home country, and other challenges. As you read further, you'll discover the tough journey these people go through, from how they travel to the risks they face, like being exploited or getting sick. The book also looks at the rules and laws about immigration, both worldwide and in individual countries. Moving on, it examines how illegal immigration affects the countries people come from and the ones they go to. It looks at the impact on the economy, society, culture, and even the safety of these places. The book also talks about the humanitarian side, explaining what happens to people who are seeking safety and help in another country. It explores how the world responds to their needs and struggles. But it's not all about problems. The book also discusses ways to fix these issues. It looks at how countries can make better rules, work together, and create a more understanding and supportive environment for everyone. Throughout the book, real stories are shared to help you see the human side of this complex issue. You'll learn about people who successfully become part of new countries, the difficulties faced by those without proper documents, and the organizations trying to help. "Dunki" is more than just a book. It's a guide that helps you see the bigger picture, encourages empathy, and shows ways we can make things better for everyone involved in immigration.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Psychotherapy is the treatment of mental and emotional disorders using psychological methods. Psychotherapy, thus, does not include physiological interventions, such as drug therapy or electroconvulsive therapy, although it may be used in combination with such methods. Behaviour therapy aims to help the patient eliminate undesirable habits or irrational fears through conditioning. Techniques include systematic desensitisation, particularly for the treatment of clients with irrational anxieties or fears, and aversive conditioning, which uses negative stimuli to end bad habits. Humanistic therapy tends to be more optimistic, basing its treatment on the theory that individuals have a natural inclination to strive toward self-fulfilment. Therapists such as Carl Rogers and Abraham Maslow used a highly interactive client-therapist relationship, compelling clients to realise exactly what they are saying or how they are behaving, in order to foster a sense of self-awareness. Cognitive therapies try to show the client that certain, usually negative, thoughts are irrational, with the goal of restructuring such thoughts into positive, constructive ideas. Such methods include rational-emotive therapy, where the therapist argues with the client about his negative ideas; and cognitive restructuring therapy, in which the therapist works with the client to set attainable goals. Other forms of therapy stress helping patients to examine their own ideas about themselves.

Book excerpt: Moskovitz's exploration of Zemlinsky's songs, operas, choral works, chamber music and symphonic compositions follows the composer's search for a distinctly personal sound, revealing an artist caught up in the music of his time yetunwilling to abandon his 19th century roots. From Zemlinsky's early success as a composer and widely recognized achievements as a conductor to his eventual descent into obscurity, this new biography places Zemlinsky (1871-1942) against the backdrops of Vienna, Prague and Berlin and illuminates his relationships with figures like Johannes Brahms, Alma Schindler, Gustav Mahler and Arnold Schoenberg. Moskovitz's exploration of Zemlinsky's songs, operas, choral works, chamber music and symphonic compositions follows the composer's search for a distinctly personal sound, revealing an artist caught up in the music of his time yet unwilling to abandon his 19th century roots. Alexander Zemlinsky: A Lyric Symphony includes an Afterword by conductor James Conlon and a complete discography of Zemlinsky recordings. MARC D. MOSKOVITZ is principal cellist of the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus, Ohio and has written for various music journals and the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians.
