Book Synopsis Technical Drawing 101 with AutoCAD 2023 by : Ashleigh Congdon-Fuller
Download or read book Technical Drawing 101 with AutoCAD 2023 written by Ashleigh Congdon-Fuller and published by SDC Publications. This book was released on with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Technical Drawing 101 covers topics ranging from the most basic, such as making freehand, multiview sketches of machine parts, to the advanced—creating an AutoCAD dimension style containing the style settings defined by the ASME Y14.5-2009 Dimensioning and Tolerancing standard. But unlike the massive technical drawing reference texts on the market, Technical Drawing 101 aims to present just the right mix of information and projects that can be reasonably covered by faculty, and assimilated by students, in one semester. Both mechanical and architectural projects are introduced to capture the interest of more students and to offer a broader appeal. The authors have also created extensive video training (178 videos, 26 hours total) that is included with every copy of the book. In these videos the authors start off by getting students comfortable with the user interface and demonstrating how to use many of AutoCAD's commands and features. The videos progress to more advanced topics where the authors walk students through completing several of the projects in the book. The CAD portion of the text incorporates drafting theory whenever possible and covers the basics of drawing setup (units, limits, and layers), the tools of the Draw, Modify, and Dimension toolbars, and the fundamentals of 3D modeling. By focusing on the fundamental building blocks of CAD, Technical Drawing 101 provides a solid foundation for students going on to learn advanced CAD concepts and techniques (paper space, viewports, xrefs, annotative scaling, etc.) in intermediate CAD courses. In recognition of the diverse career interests of our students, Technical Drawing 101 includes projects in which students create working drawings for a mechanical assembly as well as for an architectural project. We include architectural drawing because our experience has shown that many (if not most) first-semester drafting students are interested in careers in the architectural design field, and that a traditional technical drawing text, which focuses solely on mechanical drawing projects, holds little interest for these students. The multidisciplinary approach of this text and its supporting materials are intended to broaden the appeal of the curriculum and increase student interest and, it is hoped, future enrollments.

Book Synopsis Engineering Drawing and Design by : David A. Madsen
Download or read book Engineering Drawing and Design written by David A. Madsen and published by Cengage Learning. This book was released on 2001-07 with total page 1018 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With increased emphasis on visualization, the design process, and modern CAD technology, this edition of our popular Engineering Drawing and Design book provides readers with an approach to drafting that is consistent with the National Standards Institute (NSI) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Newly reorganized, the first half of the book focuses attention on sketching, views, descriptive geometry, dimensioning, and pictorial drawings. The second half of the book invites readers to build upon these skills as they explore manufacturing materials and processes that span all of the engineering disciplines, including: welding, fluid power, piping, electricity/electronics, HVAC, sheet metal, and more! Each chapter contains realistic examples, technically precise illustrations, problems and related tests. Step-by-step methods, plus layout guidelines for preparing technically precise engineering drawings from sketches, are also featured throughout the book to provide readers with a logical approach to setting up and completing drawing problems. Ideal for use in introductory and advanced engineering graphics programs, the extraordinarily complete and current information in this book makes it an invaluable reference for professional engineers.

Book Synopsis A Text-Book of Mechanical Drawing and Elementary Machine Design by : John S. Reid
Download or read book A Text-Book of Mechanical Drawing and Elementary Machine Design written by John S. Reid and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-12 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Text-Book of Mechanical Drawing and Elementary Machine Design To properly prepare students for advanced machine design it has been found necessary to introduce a course designed to apply the principles of mechanical drawing to the solution of practical problems in machine construction and to familiarize the student with the arrangement and proportions of the most important machines and their details recognized by competent engineers to be the best practice of the present time. It is essential to intelligent study and an economical expenditure of time and labor that, before attempting to design a new machine or improve an old one, the student should post himself with all possible information concerning what has already been done in the same direction. To this end the present work has been prepared. In it we have attempted to show what is the best United States practice in the design and construction of various machines and details of machines, using rules and formulas whenever feasible in working out practical problems. In addition to this will be found the latest and most approved drafting-room methods in use in this country, without which most drawings would be practically useless. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drafting Fundamentals for the Entertainment Classroom: A Process-Based Introduction to Hand Drafting, Vectorworks, and SketchUp guides students through a syllabus-formatted semester of integrated drafting concepts and skills. This book links beginner visualization practices with fundamental software knowledge through step-by-step exercises and examples. By presenting hand drafting and Vectorworks through incremental exercises, students not only gain an understanding of the tools used in drafting but also learn why the tools, practices, and standards exist in the first place. SketchUp, a user-friendly 3D modeling program, is integrated into the various exercises to help readers visualize concepts and begin modeling their own ideas. By the end of the book, students will understand drawing construction techniques, United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT)-recommended graphic standards, and the typical drawings created for entertainment design, preparing them to dive more deeply into the further complexities and opportunities of Vectorworks and SketchUp. Drafting Fundamentals for the Entertainment Classroom is written to complement a 14- or 15-week semester of an Entertainment Drafting course. The book’s format also provides structure for independent and self-directed study.
