Book Synopsis Doctor Cupid’s Arrows by : Prince P.
Download or read book Doctor Cupid’s Arrows written by Prince P. and published by Partridge Publishing Singapore. This book was released on 2020-07-21 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sometimes, I swear my life is a Julia Roberts movie. Right now, I am going through the part that sucks. The most. So bad that I feel the overwhelmingly desperate need to take a leaf out of her book. Just feels like a long-drawn bildungsroman. Only problem is my character isn’t growing as fast as I want it to or as I should be. Day and night, I sit here waiting for my twist of fate to happen. ‘Patience, Patience. The time has got to be right,’ I tell myself, hoping for the ‘all’s well that ends well’ ending. Please Doctor Cupid, please don’t misfire your arrows. And just as my strong-willed Julia Roberts spirit kicks into full gear, this man comes into the picture (why does it always have to be a man thrown in the mix) and I swear (twice now) my life is a Julia Roberts movie, like for real. Hold on tight for the twists and turns – and an ending that’ll blow your ... never-mind, I probably shouldn’t reveal too much just yet xx.

Book Synopsis Big Orange, Black Storm Clouds and More by : Ron Leadbetter
Download or read book Big Orange, Black Storm Clouds and More written by Ron Leadbetter and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015 with total page 637 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leadbetter's book offers behind-the-scenes information in a, here-to-fore, unpublished history from the Office of Associate General Counsel for the University of Tennessee. All events discussed come from his personal knowledge and years of meticious notetaking covering a period from 1967 to the present. The book, over 600 pages in length, takes readers through the years of his life that Leadbetter lived to the fullest. Beginning with his role as a student leader of conservative orientation during the tumultuous years of the late 1960s and early '70s, the book moves to Leadbetter's surprising hire by the University as its first law clerk in the Office of General Counsel, only days after completion of litigation brought against the University by Leadbetter to obtain in-state classification.
Book Synopsis Operas in English by : Margaret Ross Griffel
Download or read book Operas in English written by Margaret Ross Griffel and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2012-12-21 with total page 1015 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although many opera dictionaries and encyclopedias are available, very few are devoted exclusively to operas in a single language. In this revised and expanded edition of Operas in English: A Dictionary, Margaret Ross Griffel brings up to date her original work on operas written specifically to an English text (including works both originally prepared in English, as well as English translations). Since its original publication in 1999, Griffel has added nearly 800 entries to the 4,300 from the original volume, covering the world of opera in the English language from 1634 through 2011. Listed alphabetically by letter, each opera entry includes alternative titles, if any; a full, descriptive title; the number of acts; the composer’s name; the librettist’s name, the original language of the libretto, and the original source of the text, with the source title; the date, place, and cast of the first performance; the date of composition, if it occurred substantially earlier than the premiere date; similar information for the first U.S. (including colonial) and British (i.e., in England, Scotland, or Wales) performances, where applicable; a brief plot summary; the main characters (names and vocal ranges, where known); some of the especially noteworthy numbers cited by name; comments on special musical problems, techniques, or other significant aspects; and other settings of the text, including non-English ones, and/or other operas involving the same story or characters (cross references are indicated by asterisks). Entries also include such information as first and critical editions of the score and libretto; a bibliography, ranging from scholarly studies to more informal journal articles and reviews; a discography; and information on video recordings. Griffel also includes four appendixes, a selective bibliography, and two indexes. The first appendix lists composers, their places and years of birth and death, and their operas included in the text as entries; the second does the same for librettists; the third records authors whose works inspired or were adapted for the librettos; and the fourth comprises a chronological listing of the A–Z entries, including as well as the date of first performance, the city of the premiere, the short title of the opera, and the composer. Griffel also include a main character index and an index of singers, conductors, producers, and other key figures.

Book excerpt: The love story of Cupid and Psyche, the powerful god of love and a human girl, has fascinated readers for centuries, ever since it was written by the Roman author Apuleius in the second century AD. The enchanting story can be read as both the origin of many classic fairy tales like Beauty and the Beast or Cinderella, and as a philosophical portrait of the search of the human soul for the divine.
