Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Douglas the Dragon' symbolises 'the power of love'. A young orphaned dragon is found and adopted by a young boy and becomes a much-loved dragon in the village. When the boy is killed by a volcano, the dragon is eventually evicted from the community. The dragon spends 50 years in exile sitting upon his volcano of hate and getting angrier and angrier until his anger explodes and he seeks revenge. Old age and death are stages in a person's life that all children find difficult concepts to understand, but this is eased considerably when 'death' is associated with the concept of 'rebirth'. At a time of separation, bereavement or loss, children become more isolated, non-communicative and vulnerable. Allow Douglas to help them 'live again' through his own experiences of illness and near death.

Book excerpt: The final installment in the Lost Histories saga: "When dragons make war, Krynn can only tremble in the shaodw of angry wings." Aurican and Darlantan, mighty serpents of gold and silver, have been nurtured in a world of wisdom, meditation, and sublime faith. However, on the other side of Ansalon, Crematia—a dragon of red—inherits the Dark Queen's legacy of betrayal, violence, conquest, and plunder. The advent of a worldwide war sweeps these powerful beings and many more into desperate strife. Battles rage over Krynn with a fury that threatens to annihilate nations and whole races—even dragonkind. As campaigns ebb and flow, generations of lesser mortals come and go, and the great serpents are left to determine the fate of the world. Their triumphs may create a destiny of all-encompassing light or cast the world beneath the shadow of ultimate darkness.

Book excerpt: 'Douglas the Dragon' symbolises 'the power of love.' A young orphaned dragon is found and adopted by a young boy and becomes a much-loved dragon in the village. When the boy is killed by a volcano, the dragon is eventually evicted from the community. The dragon spends 50 years in exile sitting upon his volcano of hate and getting angrier and angrier- until his anger explodes and he seeks revenge.Old age and death are stages in a person's life that all children find difficult concepts to understand, but this is eased considerably when 'death' is associated with the concept of 'rebirth.' At a time of separation, bereavement or loss, children become more isolated, non-communicative and vulnerable. Allow Douglas to help them 'live again' through his own experiences of illness and near death.Douglas negotiates the life stages of being orphaned, adopted, accepted, loved, rejected, feared, outcast, reformed and then made redundant. He leaves his beloved village and past to seek a new way of life, and finds an angry female dragon whom he eventually changes with his love, returns to his beloved village, marries her and starts a family of baby dragons.By 1971, I had founded the process upon which all 'Anger Management' groups would thereafter follow and freely gave this knowledge to the world. Within the space of two years, 'Anger Management' (a phrase that I coined), had mushroomed across the English speaking world. After 25 years of researching and specialising in Anger Management, Relaxation Training, Behaviour Modification and Stress Management, I started writing children's books. My primary purpose of writing for children was to convey to them through my books, the basic principles of 'Anger Management.'The expression of 'Anger' by a child is a natural and healthy process that ought not be discouraged by adults. When a child expresses anger, the adult is alerted to the fact that something is wrong, but the repression (non-expression) of anger by a child conceals personal hurt and a degree of emotional disturbance, which could lead to them feeling 'unloved.'The most popular of all my children's books have been the four stories of 'Douglas the Dragon.' They have been publicly read in thousands of Yorkshire Schools between 1990 and 2005.Numerous teachers have used them to help children come to terms with the emotional upset that moving house, changing schools, being separated from part of one's family, bereavement of loved ones or being excluded from community activities can produce. Child Psychologists, Educational Welfare Officers and Trauma Therapists also used the stories to help abused children express their righteous anger, thereby enabling the progression of their emotional development through the facilitation of healthy expression. The central themes of the 'Douglas the Dragon' stories evolve around the issues of Anger, Fear, Love, Separation, Bereavement, Second Chances, Effect of Exclusion and the unwelcome experience Sudden Change can produce. Indeed, the late Princess Diana once phoned me when Princes William and Harry were aged around 9 years and 7 years, and asked that I send her a copy of 'Douglas the Dragon' along with a copy of 'Sleezy the Fox' so that she may read them to her children at bedtime. There is a two-headed dragon that lives in the heart of every man, woman and child; a 'Dragon of Anger' and a 'Dragon of Love.' Both dragons compete for the control of our thoughts, feelings and actions, but only one of them can be victorious. The 'Dragon of Anger' will destroy you unless you evict it from your body in the form of healthy expression. We cannot get the 'Dragon of Anger' out of our bodies until we allow in the 'Dragon of Love.'The ability to express the 'Dragon of Love' through our thoughts, words and deeds will lead us on to increased self-acceptance, greater happiness, improved health and personal freedom; bringing us closer to our true selves, our families, our friends, and our God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1930, Kenneth Morris's superb Book of the Three Dragons is an imaginative reworking of elements from the Mabinogion and other Welsh Celtic stories, telling the story of Manawyddan, who is given the choice between immortality with the gods or preventing a new evil from destroying the Island of the Mighty. Manawyddan chooses the latter, and the novel tells of his adventures. Swiftly moving and dramatic, this is a book that lovers of modern fantasy and old hero tales alike cannot afford to miss. Perhaps most importantly for modern readers, for the first time Morris's unpublished ending - amounting to one-third of the book's length - is included in this new edition, telling what became of the hero, his wife, and their son. NOTE ON NEW SERIES: This is the first in our new line of fantasy fiction, which will feature both masterpieces no longer in print in the US as well as new works. The series will be edited by noted Tolkien scholar Douglas A. Anderson, whose previous books include The Annotated Hobbit (HM) and Tales Before Tolkien (Ballantine). Mr. Anderson will also write introductions to each book, providing context and background to enrich the reader's experience. The cover look and interior design will appeal to all demographics (especially younger fans under 30 who play computer fantasy games and love writers like Tolkien, Pratchett, and Pullman) with top artists creating a dazzling fantasy look. Quotes:"It is a singularly fine example of the recreation of a work magnificent in its own right (the 'Mabinogion') -- a literary event rather rare except in fantasy" - Ursula Le Guin "Kenneth Morris was an important, innovative fantasist, worthy to rank with MacDonald, Eddison, and Tolkien." - Ursula Le Guin "Morris writes with all Lord Dunsany's richness, though his cadences are Celtic rather than biblical. This one should be read aloud." - review in the Feb. 2004 issue of Fantasy & Science Fiction magazine "Book of the Three Dragons is perhaps the single best fantasy adaptation from a real-world up0mythology (in this case, the Welsh Mabinogion), and the best of his tales¿" - John Rateliff, review in the Sept. 2003 issue of Wizards of the Coast website (www.wizards.com), the #1 adventure gaming company in the world.

Book excerpt: How do we build our sons to be tough but not arrogant? mannered but not soft? imaginative but not lazy? bold but not hollow? Future Men is a Christian guide to raising strong, virtuous sons, contrary to the effeminacy and sentimentalism of contemporary culture. When Theodore Roosevelt taught Sunday school for a time, a boy showed up one Sunday with a black eye. He admitted he had been fighting and on a Sunday too. He told the future president that a bigger boy had been pinching his sister, and so he fought him. TR told him that he had done perfectly right and gave him a dollar. The stodgy vestrymen thought this was a bit much, and so they let their exuberant Sunday school teacher go. What a loss. Unbelief cannot look past surfaces. Unbelief squashes; faith teaches. Faith takes a boy aside and tells him that this part of what he did was good, while the other part of what he did got in the way. "And this is how to do it better next time." As we look to Scripture for patterns of masculinity for our sons, we find them manifested perfectly in the life of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the one who set the ultimate pattern for friendship, for courage, for faithfulness, and integrity.
