Book excerpt: “Urgent and intimate.” —The New York Times Book Review A fake dating arrangement turns to real love in this deliciously delightful queer rom-com from the author of the sweetly satisfying Chef’s Kiss. When Luna O’Shea is unceremoniously fired from her frustrating office job, she tries to count her blessings: she’s a proud trans woman who has plenty of friends, a wonderful roommate, and a good life in New York City. But blessings don’t pay the bills. Enter Jean-Pierre, a laissez-faire trans man and the heir to a huge culinary empire—which he’ll only inherit if he can jump through all the hoops his celebrity chef grandfather has placed in his path. First hoop: he needs a girlfriend, a role that Luna is happy to play…for the right price. She’s got rent to pay, after all! Second hoop: they both need to learn how to cook a series of elaborate, world-renowned family recipes to prove that Jean-Pierre is a worthy heir. Admittedly, Luna doesn’t even know how to crack an egg, but she’s not going to let that—or any pesky feelings for Jean-Pierre—stop her. Another swoon-worthy and heartwarming queer love story from a charming new voice in romance.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE GROUP By Dr. James Lowther Danny Carter has won a scholarship to attend Enlightenment University in New England. Since Danny wants to be a Christian philosopher, he accepts the challenge of going to a completely and unabashedly humanistic university in order to learn philosophy. Shortly after matriculating to the school he is annoyed by a classmate's ridiculing of his faith, so Danny challenges this student, Peter Grayson, just to listen to a complete Christian apologetic without ridicule or interruption before he makes such scathing judgments. Peter takes him up on his challenge and invites Danny to a philosophy club meeting to present his case and undergo due scrutiny. Danny accepts and six sessions are set up to discuss the Bible, origins, morality, and evidences of faith. The book is honest about criticisms of the Bible and faith and answers to them. In the meantime Danny tries to find a good church home near campus that is somewhat akin to his home church in northeast Georgia, runs into the pastor's daughter of a local church who is working at a local coffee shop. He discovers the church through a flyer on the counter of the shop that is advertising the church's fall festival. He walks the five miles to the church in a driving rain storm and for his troubles begins a romantic relationship with the pastor's daughter, finds a loving supporting church that spiritually and tangibly backs his efforts to be a missionary on the secular campus of EU, and finds some trouble when the leading church member's daughter is attracted to Danny. The stream of tension runs furious in three tributaries of Danny's life. First, the attacks on his Christian beliefs and value system are relentless. Second, Danny's hedonistic roommate, an art major, mocks his moral values, but then ends up being hit by a truck after a drinking binge. Third, Danny's romantic interest in the pastor's daughter of the church he started attending is complicated by the blonde daughter of the lead deacon in the church, a rich lawyer, aggressively pursuing Danny. Though the book has its light moments it is a serious work to arm Christian students to defend their faith in school and guard them against attacks on that faith. The book does not soft peddle the criticisms against the Bible, but instead tries to answer those criticisms forthrightly. It is the author's long held believe that that Bible and the Christian faith will stand firm against the strongest arguments thrown at them. It is with this aim that the book is written.

Readers are assured of a sweet ending in more ways than one, as the donut recipes at the back of the book are as much a treat for the taste buds as the mystery is for the mind." Book excerpt: Something sinful this way comes… For a limited time, grab all four wickedly fun books in the That Old Black Magic series in this special edition box set. That Voodoo You Do Jemma’s just discovered she’s a witch, and a dead voodoo queen needs her blood to raise a legion of zombies. To increase her powers so she can put an end to the looming holocaust, it means entrusting Jemma’s life and her body to her cat familiar, Griff, and Logan—a werewolf with a history of rubbing Griff’s fur the wrong way. A cat and a wolf playing nice, much less sharing? It’ll take a miracle. The Seven Year Witch Logan has ignored his consuming need to mark Clarissa as his. Now that the ban on witch/familiar fraternizing has been lifted, he’s off the leash and ready to launch a full-on sensual assault on her defenses. They’re destined mates, and he’ll do whatever it takes to convince her. But when a deadly predator also stakes its claim, Logan faces a battle not only to win her heart, but save her soul. Maximum Witch Willa is having one hell of an identity crisis. Experiencing memory flashes that aren’t hers is the least of her problems when she finds herself in the jaws of a rogue leviathan, dragged to the bottom of the ocean—and rescued by a hunky shark. When she and Max unlock a dangerous secret hidden in her subconscious, they must race to save mankind from a watery Armageddon. Getting Familiar With Your Demon After betraying his boss, Sam landed on demon death row. The deal he's offered to escape his fate stinks. Become the indentured servant to his despised enemy? No thanks, he’d rather be six feet under. Instead, he's rescued by a deliciously innocent white witch who fuels his hunger...and saddles him with an undesired conscience, and a connection to Marabella that puts her soul on the line.

Book excerpt: A woman learns her husband is not the man she married. Instead of an orphaned foster child like herself, he is the scion of a billionaire. In order to avoid a family legacy, he faked his own death. When they first met sixteen years ago, Ali was convinced Ryan was a man who grew up like she did: as a foster care orphan. They married quickly and headed for the Midwest to complete college. Sixteen years later, Ryan has an independent law practice, Ali is an ER nurse, and the couple has the perfect life. Yet when Ryan leads a class action suit against a toxic industrial development by billionaire Charles Barnett, all hell breaks loose. During the case discovery, Ali learns that Ryan is really the sole son and namesake of real estate magnate Barnett who faked his death by disappearing off his sailboat near the Massachusetts coast sixteen years ago. His real name is Charles Barnett Jr., and he pulled off his deception in order to avoid the pressure of the family legacy and to marry Ali who came from a lower social status. He took the name Ryan, assuming the legal identity of a college roommate who died young. This searing novel demonstrates the strength of love and the power of class to haunt our lives while serving as a moving meditation on how to redeem the past. As Ryan says to his teenage daughter, "Status does not determine character. Character determines status."

Book excerpt: When his cover is blown, former Berlin bull and unwilling SS officer Bernie Gunther must re-enter a cat-and-mouse game that continues to shadow his life a decade after Germany’s defeat in World War 2... The French Riviera, 1956: Bernie’s old and dangerous adversary Erich Mielke, deputy head of the East German Stasi, has turned up in Nice—and he’s not on holiday. Mielke is calling in a debt and wants Bernie to travel to London to poison a female agent they’ve both had dealings with. But Bernie isn't keen on assassinating anyone. In an attempt to dodge his Stasi handler—former Kripo comrade Friedrich Korsch—Bernie bolts for the German border. Traveling by night and hiding by day, he has plenty of time to recall the last case he and Korsch worked together... Obersalzberg, Germany, 1939: A low-level bureaucrat has been found dead at Hitler’s mountaintop retreat in Bavaria. Bernie and Korsch have one week to find the killer before the leader of the Third Reich arrives to celebrate his fiftieth birthday. Bernie knows it would mean disaster if Hitler discovers a shocking murder has been committed on the terrace of his own home. But Obersalzberg is also home to an elite Nazi community, meaning an even bigger disaster for Bernie if his investigation takes aim at one of the party’s higher-ups... 1939 and 1956: two different eras about to converge in an explosion Bernie Gunther will never forget.
