He investigated wrong-doings and battled against villains who would threaten the United States and her dominance on the high seas. DON WINSLOW was the brainchild of Lieutenant Commander Frank V. Martinek USNR and the character was originally conceived as a methods of promoting recruitment to the navy. It began as a newspaper strip in the 1930s, and was also a radio program. The comic book series reprinted newspaper strips for a time, before offering original DON WINSLOW stories beginning in 1943. This book begins the DON WINSLOW adventures with his newspaper strips reprinted in Popular Comics #1-27, Crackajack Funnies #1-43, and then again in Popular Comics #75-84. This is just the beginning of a long DON WINSLOW run in Gwandanaland Comics! NOTE: The pages of these comics are in many cases weathered and aged.
