Precisamente sólo con una referencia a la sociedad de la época es posible determinar si la decisión se compagina con las expectativas normativas recogidas en las normas, y si el Derecho penal está cumpliendo su función de reafirmación de la vigencia de dichas expectativas. Las reglas de la prueba, la imputación objetiva y subjetiva, constituyen algunos buenos ejemplos de cómo se viene desarrollando la idea que la abstracción que supone el quehacer dogmático viene a ser enriquecida por una dogmática penal que resuelve los problemas activamente en una hetero-comunicación dentro del sistema social en su conjunto".

Its point of departure is a detailed study on the so-called Nilotic scenes or Nilotic landscapes. The book presents a comprehensive and illustrated catalogue of the genre that was popular all around the Mediterranean from the Hellenistic period to the Christian era as well as a contextualisation and interpretation.
