Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the old question of natural law in its contemporary context. David VanDrunen draws on both his Reformed theological heritage and the broader Christian natural law tradition to develop a constructive theology of natural law through a thorough study of Scripture. The biblical covenants organize VanDrunen's study. Part 1 addresses the covenant of creation and the covenant with Noah, exploring how these covenants provide a foundation for understanding God's governance of the whole world under the natural law. Part 2 treats the redemptive covenants that God established with Abraham, Israel, and the New Testament church and explores the obligations of God's people to natural law within these covenant relationships. In the concluding chapter of Divine Covenants and Moral Order VanDrunen reflects on the need for a solid theology of natural law and the importance of natural law for the Christian's life in the public square.]>

Download or read book The Divine Order, the Human Order, and the Order of Nature written by Eric Watkins and published by . This book was released on 2013-11 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains ten new essays focused on the exploration and articulation of a narrative that considers the notion of order within medieval and modern philosophy—its various kinds (natural, moral, divine, and human), the different ways in which each is conceived, and the diverse dependency relations that are thought to obtain among them. Descartes, with the help of others, brought about an important shift in what was understood by the order of nature by placing laws of nature at the foundation of his natural philosophy. Vigorous debate then ensued about the proper formulation of the laws of nature and the moral law, about whether such laws can be justified, and if so, how-through some aspect of the divine order or through human beings-and about what consequences these laws have for human beings and the moral and divine orders. That is, philosophers of the period were thinking through what the order of nature consists in and how to understand its relations to the divine, human, and moral orders. No two major philosophers in the modern period took exactly the same stance on these issues, but these issues are clearly central to their thought. The Divine Order, the Human Order, and the Order of Nature is devoted to investigating their positions from a vantage point that has the potential to combine metaphysical, epistemological, scientific, and moral considerations into a single narrative.
Download or read book Master Numbers written by Faith Javane and published by Schiffer Pub Limited. This book was released on 1988 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Never before have the master numbers - 11, 22, 33, through 99 - been examined in such depth and detail. Faith Javane, one of the most respected numerologists in the country, reveals the significance of these power indicators, both in our personal lives and in a historical and cosmic sense. She looks at the progression of the master numbers as the journey the soul takes as it seeks to master the different levels of understanding. Javane also analyzes the two single-digit numbers that, when added together, equal a master number, for example 2+9=11. These numbers within numbers "test" how well we have learned the lessons of the master numbers and whether we are ready to move on to the next level.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ahura Mazda and the Divine Order - The Ancient Wisdom of Zoroastrianism In the ancient deserts of Persia, where the sacred fire dances to the sound of the winds, the ancestral wisdom of Zoroastrianism emerges—a philosophy that transcends time and unveils the mysteries of the universe. "Ahura Mazda and the Divine Order" is a profound dive into the eternal clash between light and shadow, where Ahura Mazda, the supreme wisdom, confronts Angra Mainyu, the spirit of destruction. More than a historical narrative, this work reveals the essence of a cosmic battle that resonates in every thought, word, and action. Through the teachings of Zarathustra, the reader is guided along a path where each human choice echoes in the balance of the cosmos, between Asha, the divine order, and Druj, the disorder that threatens creation. In this book, the secrets of creation, the purity of the sacred fire, and the struggle for truth are explored in a journey that questions the purpose of existence and the quest for a greater good. With an approach that combines philosophical depth and spiritual revelations, "Ahura Mazda and the Divine Order" challenges the reader to contemplate humanity's role in preserving universal harmony. An irresistible invitation for those who seek to understand the connection between the visible and the invisible, and the transformative power of every gesture in the eternal dance between light and darkness.

Book Synopsis The Grown Up Church by : Earl Lambdin
Download or read book The Grown Up Church written by Earl Lambdin and published by Author House. This book was released on 2014 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is dedicated to the unrelenting pursuit of Biblical truth concerning our apostolic founders' vision of Christ's interactive, maturing church. As the early apostles were committed to the growing-up of each individual disciple of the Body of Christ, so this book is written to challenge and exhort all believers and followers of Christ to not settle for the same-old predictable church style of stale hierarchal leadership with mediocre followers and results. If the reader would be willing to humble oneself and dare to become boldly unchained and unafraid of embracing what is presented in this book, through scriptural truth, then a much greater understanding of the goals of early Christian discipleship could be greatly realized for the full stature and steely strength of united saints in these most desperate of latter times.

Download or read book Development written by Christopher Goodey and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-06-10 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book details the history of the idea of psychological development over the past two millennia. The developmental idea played a major part in the shift from religious ways of explaining human nature to secular, modern ones. In this shift, the 'elect' (chosen by God) became the 'normal' and grace was replaced by cognitive ability as the essentially human quality. A theory of psychological development was derived from theories of bodily development, leading scholars describe human beings as passing through necessary 'stages of development' over the lifespan. By exploring the historical and religious roots of modern psychological concepts and theories, this book demonstrates that history is a method for standing outside psychology and thereby evaluating its fundamental premises. It will spark new interest in the history, sociology and philosophy of the mind sciences, as well as in the rights of children and developmentally disabled people.
