Book Synopsis Divine Worship and Human Healing by : Bruce T. Morrill
Download or read book Divine Worship and Human Healing written by Bruce T. Morrill and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2013-03-15 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Would many believers consider a wake or funeral an act of worship? What does it mean to say that in anointing the sick or administering Viaticum to the dying humans are healed? Such questions plumb the biblical and traditional depths of the paschal mystery. Just as Jesus' ministry at the social-religious margins revealed the center of his faith in God'??s reign, so also the church's ministry to sickness and death reveals much about the baptismal and Eucharistic worship so central to its entire life. In Divine Worship and Human Healing Bruce Morrill turns to the rites serving the sick, dying, deceased, and grieving to show why sacramental liturgy is so fundamental to the life of faith. Readers will appreciate both his compelling narratives from actual pastoral experience and his engagement with biblical, theological, historical, and social-scientific resources. Morrill invites readers to discover how the liturgical ministry of healing discloses God's merciful love amid communities of faith. Book Synopsis Purifying the Heart by : James Tarter
Download or read book Purifying the Heart written by James Tarter and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-11-13 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible uses the heart to represent the whole inner person, the part of a person that receives a new body as he (she) moves from life on earth into the rest of eternity. Because the heart is the key to each person's eternal good, our loving God makes purifying our hearts a priority. He gives true progress, but He also wants each of His children in Jesus to co-operate with His work for our good. This allows major problems. A heart often has unhealed wounds, wrong beliefs, and distracting treasures. The heart naturally protects itself against getting changed, even by deceiving one's own mind if necessary. And the devil and demons try diligently to deceive people out of receiving God's great good in Jesus. This book is written to show Biblical solutions for these kinds of heart problems.
Book Synopsis A Better Understanding (Vol. 2) by : G. Ancel Killion
Download or read book A Better Understanding (Vol. 2) written by G. Ancel Killion and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-03-25 with total page 691 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The information that I have presented in these writings is possibly controversial to the belief of others. In my search for Bible truth I have derived from others many of the conclusions found within these Biblical subjects. With each subject I have insisted on positive proof by finding supporting scriptures that prove their meaning. By doing extensive search of the scriptures I believe the things written here are closer to Bible truth than what others have found. I was prompted to get a better understanding of the scriptures by the fact that there are so many different beliefs being taught in the Christian churches. I have tried to keep an open mind about those things that I have heard from the many ministers of the churches that I have attended. I have always been with the idea that if one just accepts what you are being told in these churches, there is a danger, because you are putting your salvation in anothers hands. I have come to believe there are many false ideas being taught by those ministers of the Christian belief. I believe those ministers are sincere with their teaching, but I also believe they in many ways have it wrong. I have considered the old saying if you are being led by a blind man, and he falls into the ditch, you also will fall into that ditch. I feel strongly that each one of us is responsible for our own salvation by hopefully getting it right. The things I have written are my opinion and one must decide upon reading if it agrees with your understanding. For many years I have done extensive study of the scriptures, and believe I have found a more truthful understanding of those scriptures. I believe in what I have found so strongly that I feel I must tell others.
