Book excerpt: These discussion notes were used in a Disciple Three Old Testament (The Prophets) Fast Track Bible Study course organized by the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Leawood, KS during the Autumn of 2020. Participants enjoyed exploring scripture, meanings and issues, stimulated in part by this material. Toward the end of our weeks of study, the group decided to assemble the weekly discussion outlines and make copies for some group members, plus a few spares for whomever might want to consider using our notes. Group discussions benefited from a modicum of structure and some sense of priorities or directions. These discussion notes were used as a meeting leadership tool. They suggest a rigorous advancement from topic to topic, through the available time. Sometimes it went like that, but occasionally not so much: we found it best to sometimes let some discussions run wider or longer than the notes might suggest, because more people had insights or alternate perspectives to share. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all of our meetings were conducted online using Zoom, so we decided to limit meeting time to 90 minutes per session.These notes provide an approach to each weekly lesson, but probably shouldn't be construed to be a rigid discussion plan. Instead, we've found it beneficial to grow together, appreciating the desirability of addressing several important areas arising each week, but not shorting something that needed a bit more attention.
