This book was released on 2009-07-21 with total page 810 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “One Country, Two Systems, Three Legal Orders” – Perspectives of Evolution – : Essays on Macau’s Autonomy after the Resumption of Sovereignty by China” can be said, in a short preamble-like manner, to be a book that provides a comprehensive look at several issues regarding public law that arise from, or correlate with, the Chinese apex motto for reunification – One Country, Two Systems – and its implementation in Macau and Hong Kong. Noble and contemporary themes such as autonomy models and fundamental rights are thoroughly approached, with a multilayered analysis encompassing both Western and Chinese views, and an extensive comparative law acquis is also brought forward. Furthermore, relevant issues on international law, criminal law, and historical and comparative evolutions and interactions of different legal s- tems are laid down in this panoramic, yet comprehensive book. One cannot but underline the presence, in the many approaches and comments, of a certain aura of a modern Kantian cosmopolitanism revisitation throughout the work, especially when dealing with the cardinal principle of «One Country, Two Systems», which enabled a peaceful and integral reunification ex vi international law – the Joint Declarations – that ended an external and distant control.
Book Synopsis Political Liberalization In Brazil by : Wayne A Selcher
Download or read book Political Liberalization In Brazil written by Wayne A Selcher and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-07-09 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The civilian government inaugurated in Brazil in March 1985, following twenty-one years of military rule, is the culmination of a slow process of liberalization that has brought greater freedom of political expression, organization, and activity. How the Sarney government responds to the challenges it faces and the institutional choices it must make will shape Brazil’s political evolution for years to come. Should Brazil develop a democratic system, it would be the third most populous democracy in the world. Political trends in Brazil are therefore of considerable significance to Latin America and the United States. In this comprehensive analysis of the forces pushing democratization forward, those opposing it, and the contradictions created by the ad hoc nature of the dynamics between the two, the contributors examine the legacy of two decades of authoritarian rule, the choices facing the civilian government, and possible future developments.

Book Synopsis Einstürzende Mauern by : Klaus Koschorke
Download or read book Einstürzende Mauern written by Klaus Koschorke and published by Otto Harrassowitz Verlag. This book was released on 2009 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The year 1989/90 saw the fall of the Berlin Wall, the collapse of the Soviet empire, the end of the Cold War and of the bipolar world order. For the churches and Christians in Eastern Europe, the date was a dramatic turning point. It brought the end of the communist oppression, freedom of religion, and new opportunities for engagement in the public sphere. To what extent were these events a turning point for Christianity in Africa, Asia and Latin America, as well? This was the central question discussed at the 4th International Munich-Freising Conference in February 2008 by participants from four continents and various fields of professional expertise. Not only the Berlin Wall came down, but also the walls of Apartheid in South Africa and many nation-state barriers around the globe. These changes confronted churches throughout the world with new challenges.
