Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story of the suppression of polytheistic religions in the ancient world by the ever more powerful monotheistic religions is revisited in this groundbreaking comparative study of world religions. Defending the thesis that religious terrorism is neither exclusive to an individual faith nor a side effect of the times, this book studies the way in which the belief in one true God is inherently intolerant of other ways of viewing the world, and bases its existence in the suppression of any alternative perspective on the divine.

Book Synopsis El monoteísmo ante el reto de las religiones by : Juan Antonio Estrada Díaz (S.J.)

This book was released on 1998-01-20 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Monoteísmo y cristología en el N.T. written by Richard Bauckham and published by Editorial CLIE. This book was released on 2003-10-21 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis The Failure of Modern Civilization and the Struggle for a "deep" Alternative by : Claudia von Werlhof
Download or read book The Failure of Modern Civilization and the Struggle for a "deep" Alternative written by Claudia von Werlhof and published by Beiträge zur Dissidenz. This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Western civilization is the Utopia of a better and higher life on Earth. The globalization of neo-liberalism proves that this project has failed. The paradigm of «Critical Theory of Patriarchy» explains this failure and discusses alternatives. By confronting the central civilizations in history, the egalitarian, life-oriented matriarchal one, and the hierarchical, nature and life dominating, hostile patriarchal one, we see that 5000 years of patriarchy have «replaced» matriarchies and nature itself by a «progressive» counter-world of «capital». This transformation characterizes «capitalist patriarchy» including «socialism». Its demise is due to the «alchemical» destruction of the world's resources, thought of, theologically legitimized and fetishized as «creation». This violence is not recognized. Elites have, instead, begun with a new «military alchemy», treating the whole Planet as weapon of mass destruction. Hence, the «Planetary Movement for Mother Earth».

Book Synopsis The Correspondence of Hannah Arendt and Gershom Scholem by : Hannah Arendt
Download or read book The Correspondence of Hannah Arendt and Gershom Scholem written by Hannah Arendt and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2017-11-17 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The essence of the correspondence between Arendt and Scholem can be said to lie in three things. Above all it provides an intimate account of how two great intellectuals try to come to terms with being both German and Jewish, and how to think about Germany before, during, and after the Holocaust. They also debate the issue of what it means to be Jewish in the post-Holocaust world whether in New York or in Jerusalem. Finally, the specter of Benjamin haunts the work and in a sense the letters are as much about Benjamin as the other two questions since his life and tragic death epitomize them both. Arendt and Scholem's letters on these weighty questions are lightened by more routine exchanges: on travel itineraries, lunch or dinner parties where important people were present, and so forth. These daily details are woven throughout the correspondence and provide vivid biographical information about Arendt and Scholem that is unavailable in any other source.
Book Synopsis Creativity and Time: A Sociological Exploration by : Juan A. Roche Cárcel
Download or read book Creativity and Time: A Sociological Exploration written by Juan A. Roche Cárcel and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-10-15 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book defends that the pursuit of originality constitutes one of the most important characteristics of creativity, but that originality refers, etymologically, to both origin and originary. Hence, the book is structured into two parts, dedicated, respectively, to the creative categories of origin and the creative categories of originary. Within the former are creation myths, games – the origin of all cultural activity, the dialectic chaos-order, axial civilizations – the germ of our time, and the struggle between generations – a factor of social transformation, and, within the second, creative capitalism, creative work in the context of the global economy of risk and uncertainty, and representative democracy. However, these two concepts are not isolated, but deeply interrelated, in a way that explains how creative originality builds a temporal narrative. It has been dislocated in late modernity and, with it, creativity has been broken.
