Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Classical Dynamics of Particles and Systems presents a modern and reasonably complete account of the classical mechanics of particles, systems of particles, and rigid bodies for physics students at the advanced undergraduate level. The book aims to present a modern treatment of classical mechanical systems in such a way that the transition to the quantum theory of physics can be made with the least possible difficulty; to acquaint the student with new mathematical techniques and provide sufficient practice in solving problems; and to impart to the student some degree of sophistication in handling both the formalism of the theory and the operational technique of problem solving. Vector methods are developed in the first two chapters and are used throughout the book. Other chapters cover the fundamentals of Newtonian mechanics, the special theory of relativity, gravitational attraction and potentials, oscillatory motion, Lagrangian and Hamiltonian dynamics, central-force motion, two-particle collisions, and the wave equation.

Book Synopsis Guide to Essential Math by : Sy M. Blinder
Download or read book Guide to Essential Math written by Sy M. Blinder and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2013-02-14 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reminds students in junior, senior and graduate level courses in physics, chemistry and engineering of the math they may have forgotten (or learned imperfectly) that is needed to succeed in science courses. The focus is on math actually used in physics, chemistry, and engineering, and the approach to mathematics begins with 12 examples of increasing complexity, designed to hone the student's ability to think in mathematical terms and to apply quantitative methods to scientific problems. Detailed illustrations and links to reference material online help further comprehension. The second edition features new problems and illustrations and features expanded chapters on matrix algebra and differential equations. - Use of proven pedagogical techniques developed during the author's 40 years of teaching experience - New practice problems and exercises to enhance comprehension - Coverage of fairly advanced topics, including vector and matrix algebra, partial differential equations, special functions and complex variables

Book Synopsis Mechanisms by : Jaime Gallardo-Alvarado
Download or read book Mechanisms written by Jaime Gallardo-Alvarado and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2022-06-18 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theory of mechanisms is an applied science of mechanics that studies the relationship between geometry, mobility, topology, and relative motion between rigid bodies connected by geometric forms. Recently, knowledge in kinematics and mechanisms has considerably increased, causing a renovation in the methods of kinematic analysis. With the progress of the algebras of kinematics and the mathematical methods used in the optimal solution of polynomial equations, it has become possible to formulate and elegantly solve problems. Mechanisms: Kinematic Analysis and Applications in Robotics provides an updated approach to kinematic analysis methods and a review of the mobility criteria most used in planar and spatial mechanisms. Applications in the kinematic analysis of robot manipulators complement the material presented in the book, growing in importance when one recognizes that kinematics is a basic area in the control and modeling of robot manipulators. - Presents an organized review of general mathematical methods and classical concepts of the theory of mechanisms - Introduces methods approaching time derivatives of arbitrary vectors employing general approaches based on the vector angular velocity concept introduced by Kane and Levinson - Proposes a strategic approach not only in acceleration analysis but also to jerk analysis in an easy to understand and systematic way - Explains kinematic analysis of serial and parallel manipulators by means of the theory of screws
