Book excerpt: This book contains contributions from the IX International Scientific Conference “Digital Transformation of the Economy: Challenges, Trends and New Opportunities,” which was organized by Samara State University of Economics (SSEU, Samara, Russia), 2021, and devoted to the 90th anniversary of this higher education institution. Digital technologies became even more in demand during the pandemic, when companies, state authorities, and educational organizations were forced to switch to a remote format of work. The “forced” digitization of the usual ways of activity required rapid and decisive changes. Understanding the ongoing digital transformation implies the relevance of further in-depth research of this issue in the context of various socioeconomic systems, interdisciplinary interactions, and cooperation between scientists and practitioners. The book is an attempt to analyze these changes and consider them from the point of view of various scientific areas (economics, management, education, law, sociology, and others). This book addresses theoretical and practical aspects by studying the digital technology application in terms of the new socioeconomic reality development: big data in the digital economy, data collection and exchange, artificial intelligence, intelligent communications, digital platforms and strategies for the sustainable development of socioeconomic systems, and new requirements of professional and business education. It provides significant value for scientists, teachers, and students of higher educational institutions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much of the discussion about new technologies and social equality has focused on the oversimplified notion of a "digital divide." Technology and Social Inclusion moves beyond the limited view of haves and have-nots to analyze the different forms of access to information and communication technologies. Drawing on theory from political science, economics, sociology, psychology, communications, education, and linguistics, the book examines the ways in which differing access to technology contributes to social and economic stratification or inclusion. The book takes a global perspective, presenting case studies from developed and developing countries, including Brazil, China, Egypt, India, and the United States. A central premise is that, in today's society, the ability to access, adapt, and create knowledge using information and communication technologies is critical to social inclusion. This focus on social inclusion shifts the discussion of the "digital divide" from gaps to be overcome by providing equipment to social development challenges to be addressed through the effective integration of technology into communities, institutions, and societies. What is most important is not so much the physical availability of computers and the Internet but rather people's ability to make use of those technologies to engage in meaningful social practices.

This book was released on 2023-06-12 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the notion of the environmental sustainability of the economy. The Sustainable Development Goals, formulated by the UN, led to the formation of a concept of the environmental sustainability of the economy. This concept implies the harmony of economy and environment, achieved due to the support for the SDGs in the economy. This book is original due to its reconsidering the environmental sustainability of the economy from the position of crises. The theoretical significance of the book consists in the development of an anti-crisis approach to the provision of the environmental sustainability of the economy: responsible nature use based on digital markets and smart governance. The proprietary approach allows for the comprehensive description of the potential of the leading technologies—artificial intelligence (AI), robots, the Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain—to support—during their use in smart governance—crisis management of the environmental sustainability of economy. The book’s practical significance is due to the description and detailed discussion of the modern international experience of responsible nature use given the specifics of developed and developing countries. The anti-crisis approach to the provision of the environmental sustainability of the economy is based on digital markets: FinTech, EdTech, GovTech, AgroTech, and EnergyTech, the practice of which is described in the book with the help of multiple examples from the international experience and case studies. The book is aimed at scholars who study environmental economics. In this book, they find an innovative view of the environmental sustainability of the economy in its close connection with economic crises.

This book was released on 2020-08-24 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the social consequences of digitization. The authors determine the problems, substantiate the perspectives, and offer recommendations for determining the role of human in modern digital society. The scientific concept "homo digital" is developed, and the essence of its formation in the process of evolution of "homo economicus" is studied. The transition from the post-industrial to the information society is also considered. The authors show that in the context of the digital economy the problem of economization (commercialization) of non-economic (non-profit) spheres and types of economic activity become more urgent; they are analyzed through the prism of the theory of time in economics. Based on this, the increase of the influence of the consumer society on the modern social environment is shown. The key role of human capital in formation of a new quality of economic growth in the digital economic environment is substantiated, and transformation processes in the structure and practice of application of human capital are analyzed. The idea of social justice is reconsidered through the prism of digital society as a social environment with equal opportunities but different competences and motives. Attention is paid to the modern Russian practice of influence of the digital economy on society on the whole and each human. Scientific and methodological recommendations for indicative evaluation of quality of economic growth in the conditions of digitization of Russia’s economic system are offered, and the specifics of the problem of socio-economic differentiation of the Russian population in the conditions of technological progress are shown. Based on this, it is proved that the digital economy has a contradictory influence on society, increasing the accessibility of goods and services, in particular hi-tech ones, but also causing an urgent need for adapting to the new economic conditions. This adaptation is largely determined by capabilities of people, flexibility of their thinking, and ability for learning and development. Thus, instead of the expected provision of balance of society, its disproportions could grow in practice. Also, specific features of regional migration in modern Russia in the context of digitization are determined. The role of emotional intellect in formation of the critical thinking of a company’s employees is outlined. Due to this, it is shown that so called "human factor", which is traditionally treated as a source of economic risks and costs, acquires a new role in the conditions of the digital economy – a source of value creation and reduction of risks of technological progress, due to justified opposition to unfavorable changes. Informal labor relations based on digital communications, as the highest form of evolution of these relations that is achieved in the conditions of Industry 4.0, is considered. The central role of higher education in the process of social adaptation to the conditions of Industry 4.0 is outlined. The economic and legal issues of the digital economy are considered – in particular, the issue of democracy in the digital society in the conditions of e-government.

Book excerpt: This book includes the best studies on the results of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “New behaviors of market players in the digital economy,” which was held by the Institute of Scientific Communications on July 8, 2021, online, in YouTube format. This book is devoted to the study of digital economy markets from the standpoint of various market players—society (consumers), entrepreneurship, and the state—from the standpoint of various sciences—economic, managerial, social, and legal—which ensures the multidisciplinarity of the book. The uniqueness of the book lies in the application of a new scientific and methodological approach to the study of digital economy markets—simulation modeling. The advantages of a game-based scientific and methodological approach to reducing the uncertainty of economic processes and systems—a combination of quantitative and qualitative analytical methods, a systematic consideration of economic processes and systems from a socio-economic point of view—make it especially suitable for studying digital economy markets. The book identifies the impact of globalization and digitalization on the modern economy and industry markets. The trends and features of the use of advanced technologies in the digital economy markets are studied. The modern practices of business management and business integration in the digital economy are considered. The foundations of economic security and sustainable development of markets and enterprises in the digital economy are revealed. The book is suitable for scientists studying the markets of the digital economy, who will find in it scientific and methodological recommendations and developments on the application of game theory, as well as ready simulation models of the digital economy markets.
