This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ~irst international con~erence on differential games was held at Amherst, Massachusetts, in September 1969. A second meeting, partially supported by N.A.T.O., was held in Varenna, Italy, in June 1970. At these conferences many new theoretical results and applications, especially in economic problems, were presented. The present volume consists o~ the lectures presented at a N.A.T.O. Advanced Study Institute on the "Theory and Applications of Differential Games" held at the University of Warwick, Coventry, England, from 27th August to 6th September, 1974. The main contributions during the first week consisted of a survey of two person zero sum differential games by L. D. Berkovitz and four integrated lectures by R. J. Elliott and N. J. Kalton, who have made important contributions to the concept of "value" of a differential game. Applications were featured during the second week and included tactical air games, pursuit and evasion problems, as well as computational aspects. A closing lecture with historical perspectives was given by Rufus Issacs, the recognised pioneer of differential games theory.

Book Synopsis Differential Games: A Concise Introduction by : Jiongmin Yong
Download or read book Differential Games: A Concise Introduction written by Jiongmin Yong and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2014-12-05 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book uses a small volume to present the most basic results for deterministic two-person differential games. The presentation begins with optimization of a single function, followed by a basic theory for two-person games. For dynamic situations, the author first recalls control theory which is treated as single-person differential games. Then a systematic theory of two-person differential games is concisely presented, including evasion and pursuit problems, zero-sum problems and LQ differential games. The book is intended to be self-contained, assuming that the readers have basic knowledge of calculus, linear algebra, and elementary ordinary differential equations. The readership of the book could be junior/senior undergraduate and graduate students with majors related to applied mathematics, who are interested in differential games. Researchers in some other related areas, such as engineering, social science, etc. will also find the book useful.
Book Synopsis Introduction to Equilibrium Analysis by : W. Hildenbrand
Download or read book Introduction to Equilibrium Analysis written by W. Hildenbrand and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-07-22 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced Textbooks in Economics, Volume 6: Introduction to Equilibrium Analysis: Variations on Themes by Edgeworth and Walras focuses on the approaches developed and instituted by Edgeworth and Walras in the study of equilibrium analysis. The book first underscores exchange economies, core of a game, and large economies. Discussions focus on economies with a continuum of agents, Walras equilibrium, prices and demand, balancedness, and commodity space. The manuscript then ponders on limit theorems for the core and existence of competitive equilibria. Topics include equilibria without convexity of preferences, existence of equilibria for economies with convex preferences, individual demand, emergence of prices, asymptotic equal treatment for most, uniform boundedness of core allocations, and limit theorems for type and replica economies. The publication examines continuous, upper, and lower hemi-continuous correspondences, fixed point theorems, and separation of convex sets. The book is a vital source of data for economists and researchers interested in equilibrium analysis.

Book Synopsis Pursuit-Evasion Differential Games by : Y. Yavin
Download or read book Pursuit-Evasion Differential Games written by Y. Yavin and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Twenty papers are devoted to the treatment of a wide spectrum of problems in the theory and applications of dynamic games with the emphasis on pursuit-evasion differential games. The problem of capturability is thoroughly investigated, also the problem of noise-corrupted (state) measurements. Attention is given to aerial combat problems and their attendant modelling issues, such as variable speed of the combatants, the three-dimensionality of physical space, and the combat problem, i.e. problems related to 'role determination'.

Book Synopsis In the Footsteps of Giorgio Philip Szegö by : Rita Laura D'Ecclesia
Download or read book In the Footsteps of Giorgio Philip Szegö written by Rita Laura D'Ecclesia and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-10-14 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers essential information on the life and career of the recently deceased Giorgio P. Szegö, particularly his important contributions in various areas of mathematical programming and applications to financial markets. It highlights the developments in the fields of stability theory and dynamical systems brought about by his work in the early 1960s and 1970s, then moves on to address his valuable contributions to portfolio theory in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and, finally, examines his work in the field of risk management and the role of financial regulation in the late 1990s. The book explores Giorgio P. Szegö’s contributions in diverse research areas ranging from global optimization, theory of stability and dynamical systems to applications of financial mathematics to portfolio theory, risk measurement and financial regulation. It also covers his consulting work for such major international institutions as the IMF, World Bank and OECD.
