This breakthrough book is based on thousands of cutting-edge science articles identifying the causes of optimal health vs sickness and disease. Healthy Past 100 puts a wealth of cutting-edge, science-based healthcare information at your fingertips, empowering you to make the healthiest choices for you and your family. Healthy Past 100 is several books in one, and it also contains a mouthwatering keto cookbook that's exclusively based on the most nourishing ingredients you can consume. This life-changing book is based on the Short List, i.e., a distillation of the core factors involved in being healthy past 100. The Short List includes: The Metabolic Masterplan Diet: the Metabolic Masterplan Diet may be the world's most advanced ketogenic diet. Nothing improves your health as much as following this research-based, anti-inflammatory, gut-healing ketogenic diet. Nutrition and Supplements: providing your cells with all the nutrients they require to function optimally is key to a long, healthy life. Healthy Past 100 shows you exactly which nutrients you need and which ones to supplement with. Metabolism: carbohydrates and sugar damage your metabolism (the process of creating energy in your cells), causing serious health issues. Healthy Past 100 teaches you to heal and optimize your metabolism, and which tests to rely on to know—not guess—that your metabolism is as healthy as can be. Chronic Inflammation: this widespread health issue underlies all diseases, and must be healed to experience optimal health. Healthy Past 100 rids you of chronic inflammation—now and forever—paving the way to lasting health. Gut Health: most humans deal with significant gut issues. Fortunately, Healthy Past 100's innovative gut healing method leads to lifelong optimized gut health. Psychology: psychology is how you think, feel, act, behave and respond to life's circumstances. Healthy Past 100 provides the tools to heal and optimize your psychology, which is foundational to a healthy, fulfilling life. Thyroid Physiology: inefficient thyroid physiology impairs your body and mind, zaps your energy and causes many diseases. Healthy Past 100 explains how thyroid physiology works, how to heal it, and the tests determining if it's in tip-top shape. Exercise: crucial to your health and well-being, exercise must be performed regularly. Healthy Past 100 teaches you which exercises help you become healthy past 100. Detoxification: humans are routinely exposed to dangerous heavy metal toxins. Healthy Past 100 shows you how to rid these harmful metals from your body and minimize your exposure to them in the future. Oxidative Stress: oxidative stress is a primary cause of aging, sickness, disease and death. It has many causes, including carbohydrates, sugar, poor nutrition and impaired gut health. Healthy Past 100 helps you optimize oxidative stress where it matters most: within the mitochondria in your cells. Spiritual/Religious Life: extraordinary health stems from optimal physical, psychological and spiritual well-being. It's just as important to focus on your spiritual fitness as it is to heal your physical body, and Healthy Past 100 helps you do both. This pioneering book has been written to help you experience extraordinary health past your 100th birthday. If you're ready to be healthy past 100, this is the book you've been waiting for!

Book excerpt: Gridiron football is the king of sports – it's the biggest game in the strongest and richest country in the world. In The King of Sports, Easterbrook tells the full story of how football became so deeply ingrained in American culture. Both good and bad, he examines its impact on American society. The King of Sports explores these and many other topics: * The real harm done by concussions (it's not to NFL players). * The real way in which college football players are exploited (it's not by not being paid). * The way football helps American colleges (it's not bowl revenue) and American cities (it's not Super Bowl wins). * What happens to players who are used up and thrown away (it's not pretty). * The hidden scandal of the NFL (it's worse than you think). Using his year-long exclusive insider access to the Virginia Tech football program, where Frank Beamer has compiled the most victories of any active NFL or major-college head coach while also graduating players, Easterbrook shows how one big university "does football right." Then he reports on what's wrong with football at the youth, high school, college and professional levels. Easterbrook holds up examples of coaches and programs who put the athletes first and still win; he presents solutions to these issues and many more, showing a clear path forward for the sport as a whole.

Book excerpt: Addresses the Aging Process and Its Effect on Sports Performance Age-related changes influence all physiological systems, including those used during exercise and sport. Highlighting masters athletes—older adults who train and compete in organized sports—Nutrition and Performance in Masters Athletes examines the extent to which regular physical training can impact these changes. This book bridges the gap between theory and practice, addressing nutritional, exercise and sport sciences, and the actual performance of masters athletes and older exercisers. It reviews in detail many age-related changes that occur in the physiological systems, provides implications of these changes for masters athletes, coaches and clinicians, explores scientifically-based methods to maximize sprint, strength and power, team sport players, endurance and ultra-endurance performance, and focuses on the unique nutritional needs of master athletes. Examines the Growing Body of Knowledge on Masters Athletes Each chapter has been written by a world-leading authority in their field. Contributors focus on a specific topic and discuss available research. Incorporating information from studies on younger and older athletes and healthy older non-athletes, they help determine the training and nutrition implications for sports medicine professionals and clinicians, masters athletes and coaches, and future research directions for academic and postgraduate students. The book includes material on endurance, ultra-endurance, speed, strength and power, and team sports athletes. Sections cover macronutrients (carbohydrate, fat and protein needs), micronutrients (vitamin and mineral needs), fluids and hydration; supplements and ergogenic aids, nutrition for chronic disease, and the training/nutrition needs of every type of masters athletes. Nutrition and Performance in Masters Athletes is highly recommended for medical and health professionals, fellow academics, postgraduates with an interest in masters athletes, as well as masters athlete coaches and masters athletes, and administrators wanting to assist their members.

This book was released on 2013-11-13 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physical inactivity is a key determinant of health across the lifespan. A lack of activity increases the risk of heart disease, colon and breast cancer, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, osteoporosis, anxiety and depression and others diseases. Emerging literature has suggested that in terms of mortality, the global population health burden of physical inactivity approaches that of cigarette smoking. The prevalence and substantial disease risk associated with physical inactivity has been described as a pandemic. The prevalence, health impact, and evidence of changeability all have resulted in calls for action to increase physical activity across the lifespan. In response to the need to find ways to make physical activity a health priority for youth, the Institute of Medicine's Committee on Physical Activity and Physical Education in the School Environment was formed. Its purpose was to review the current status of physical activity and physical education in the school environment, including before, during, and after school, and examine the influences of physical activity and physical education on the short and long term physical, cognitive and brain, and psychosocial health and development of children and adolescents. Educating the Student Body makes recommendations about approaches for strengthening and improving programs and policies for physical activity and physical education in the school environment. This report lays out a set of guiding principles to guide its work on these tasks. These included: recognizing the benefits of instilling life-long physical activity habits in children; the value of using systems thinking in improving physical activity and physical education in the school environment; the recognition of current disparities in opportunities and the need to achieve equity in physical activity and physical education; the importance of considering all types of school environments; the need to take into consideration the diversity of students as recommendations are developed. This report will be of interest to local and national policymakers, school officials, teachers, and the education community, researchers, professional organizations, and parents interested in physical activity, physical education, and health for school-aged children and adolescents.

The book also stresses how antioxidants may affect immunity, health, and exercise performance. The book contains scientifically based chapters explaining the basic mechanisms of exercise-induced oxidative damage. This book is useful for sport nutrition scientists, physicians, exercise physiologists, product developers, sport practitioners, coaches, top athletes, and recreational athletes. In it, they will find objective information and practical guidance.
