Just because you’re on a “restricted diet” doesn’t mean you have to be a slave to the bland and boring. Now you can eat exciting, tantalizing foods, control your condition and weight, and stay heart-healthy, all with one comprehensive cookbook. JoAnna Lund’s Healthy Exchanges works because every one of these recipes must, according to her four basic rules, be: • Low in Fat and Sugar: A diabetic demands less sugar, less fat, and lower cholesterol. • Easy to Make: If it takes longer to cook than to eat, you won’t see it in this book. • Made from Ordinary Ingredients: If you can’t find it in a local supermarket, you won’t find it in this book. • As Tasty and Good as It Looks: If a dish doesn’t satisfy every sense, the way old family favorites do, it won’t get eaten—no matter how healthy it is! The Diabetic’s Healthy Exchanges Cookbook features more than 150 kitchen- and family-tested recipes, complete with all diabetic and weight-loss exchanges, as well as information on calories and fat content, plenty of helpful hints, and a good dose of encouragement. “I recommend [JoAnna’s recipes] to my diabetic patients.”—Donna S. Conway, RN, BSN, MA, CDE “. . . Creative, fun, EASY, very tasty . . . my diabetic patients’ favorites!”—Yvonne Guthrie, RD, CDE

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An estimated 30 million Americans have diabetes or prediabetes. Many are unaware that they are sick because their doctors do not test for this illness. Unfortunately, diabetes can lead to severe complications such as kidney failure and blindness if left untreated. It is important that you get tested for diabetes by a medical professional so that you can receive the proper treatment. If you have diabetes, it is essential to stay on top of your blood sugar levels and monitor them closely. The Diabetic Cookbook will provide you with a variety of diabetic recipes to help you manage your condition. Diabetes is a disease that affects the body's ability to produce or properly use insulin, a hormone that helps the body use glucose (sugar) for energy. Insulin is produced in the pancreas, a gland in the abdomen. The pancreas produces insulin in response to glucose entering the blood from food. When your body cannot make enough insulin, it can cause too much glucose to enter your bloodstream, which can lead to diabetes. This causes changes in circulation that can damage tissue and lead to complications such as nerve damage, heart disease, blindness, kidney failure, and amputation of limbs. Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases in the United States, and it also has major health consequences for every individual involved. There are many diabetics who still enjoy their favorite foods, but may be on a restricted diet. There are many diabetic recipes available, but they can be a bit bland and plain sometimes. At Diabetic Cookbook, we offer a selection of diabetic friendly recipes so you can enjoy your favorite meals in a healthier way. These recipes are easy to prepare, with some using little ingredients that are easily found at the grocery store or drug store. We know that everyone has different tastes and preferences when it comes to favorite foods. That's why we're proud to offer our diabetic cookbooks to everyone. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you know what diabetes is? Have you ever been to a doctor because you felt sick or tired? If you feel that you have diabetes, then you are most likely not alone. It's estimated that there are 20 million Americans that have diabetes. Diabetes is a chronic condition that occurs when either the body does not produce enough insulin, or the body's cells do not respond to insulin properly. If this happens, glucose (a type of sugar) builds up in the blood and causes harmful effects on the eyes, nerves, kidneys, and heart. Diabetes is a disease characterized by a lack of insulin, which is a hormone that regulates blood glucose levels. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that allows glucose (from carbohydrates) to enter cells, and use as energy. Without insulin, glucose cannot enter cells, which causes the blood glucose levels to rise. The signs and symptoms of diabetes include excessive thirst, unexplained weight loss or increased weight, frequent urination (polyuria), blurred vision (diabetic retinopathy), and changes in skin color of the hands and feet (calluses). Diabetes is a disease that affects the way your body uses the sugar in your blood. Your body runs on sugar to run energy through all of your organs and systems. When your body cannot use enough blood sugar, it makes chemical called insulin to help in the process. When your body does this, blood glucose levels rise. It becomes harder to get enough blood glucose without injecting insulin. If this sounds like you, then you may be diabetic. Diabetes can have a severe impact on weight loss programs and diet. In fact, if you're diabetic it's very possible that your current weight loss plan is not helping you lose weight at all or even making it harder for you to lose weight. This Book Covers: ? Breakfast Diabetic Recipes ? Lunch Diabetic Recipes ? Dinner Diabetic Recipes ? Meat Diabetic Recipes ? Soup and Stew Diabetic Recipes ? Dessert Diabetic Recipes If you have diabetes, or care about someone who has the disease, this cookbook is for you. It has a variety of tasty recipes that fits the needs of diabetics.
