Book Synopsis Evil, Anger, and God by : Milton Crum
Download or read book Evil, Anger, and God written by Milton Crum and published by Milton Crum. This book was released on 2008-05 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evil in Scripture denotes both suffering and behavior that causes it. Anger often follows suffering. Anger at people is condemned, but anger at God is accepted because biblical faith portrays God as inflicting evil. This faith calls for an understanding of language about God acting and a biblical theodicy revealing God's goodness; both are provided. Portrayals of God as inflicting evil do not deny that, factually, humans inflict it, so the witness about human sin is included. Final chapters offer biblical deliverances from evil.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Billeace Bloom was once an atheist driven by toxic fears to learn if God was real and to find Him if possible. As a result of that search, her life now provides credible evidence that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In a fascinating autobiography, Billeace begins by revealing how her views of Christianity as a mundane existence fueled her internal struggle to either remain an atheist or release her entire life to God. After detailing how the Lord told her there is no room in the abundant life for boredom, Billeace discloses how she never dreamed how true those words would become when she surrendered her will for His will. As she describes her journey to the truth, Billeace becomes whole when she fills in each piece of her spiritual puzzle. She reminds us that with God as our constant companion, life overflows with miracles, transformations, lessons, laughter, mysteries to solve, and victories. Missing Pieces of the Puzzle is the true story of a former atheist who found the reality of God, experienced Him in remarkable ways, and affirmed the Bible is God’s own words that can dramatically change lives.

Book Synopsis The Reality of God and the Problem of Evil by : Brian Davies
Download or read book The Reality of God and the Problem of Evil written by Brian Davies and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2006-10-11 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An important new book on how we can still believe in a God of love and confront the problem of evil in the world. Probably the most important book on the subject since John Hick's book `Evil and the God of Love`. &; Evil is a strong word that people now employ fairly rarely. Many people believe these days that God is omnipotent, omniscient and good and that what we deem to be bad or evil in the world is no reason for abandoning belief in God. It is an intellectual or theoretical problem not one where the focus is on how one might bring about some desirable goal ( a practical matter). &; Professor Davies says we should tackle this problem by attending to the basics, by asking whether there is a God and then What is God? he starts by summarizing the arguments so far (from Seneca to the present day). He then moves to what he describes as the basics (see above) and demonstrates that much of what has been written about on the topic of evil is in fact irrelevant or just plain wrong. &; Finally, though many theologians argue that evil is a mystery, Davies argues that this too is wrong and a cop out. We should rather be concerned with the problem (or mystery) of good. The real issue is ` Why is there not more good than there is`. From the discussion Aquinas emerges as a hero (as filtered through analytical philosophy) but many moderns thinkers do not emerge so well. Davies effectively picks holes int e arguments of Peter Geach, Paul Helm, Richard Swinburne and even Mary Baker Eddy. &; This is a lively book on a tricky subject, written at all times with humour and much practical example.

Book Synopsis Wrestling with God and with Evil by :
Download or read book Wrestling with God and with Evil written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fact of evil continues to raises questions – questions about the relationship between God and evil but also questions about human involvement in it. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, it is now time to see the existence of evil not just as a problem for belief in God; it is a problem for belief in humanity itself as well. For human involvement in evil is not simply a matter of coping with evil but also concerns the fact that humans themselves often seem to do wrong and evil inevitably. Human finitude, ignorance and the unforeseeable consequences of good intentions as well as of neglect can often lead to tragedy. This volume contains contributions from an equal number of male and female scholars in Western Europe and America. It contains discussions of thinkers like Kant, Kierkegaard, Barth, Weil, Levinas, Naber, Caputo and Johnson. It deals with issues like tragedy, finitude, critiques of Western culture, violence and God, and the question of whether theodicies are needed or are even honest. This volume offers an interesting survey of ‘wrestling with God and evil’ from a variety of perspectives in the philosophy of religion on both sides of the Atlantic.
Book Synopsis 2012 and the End of Institutional Evil by : Herbert Stollorz
Download or read book 2012 and the End of Institutional Evil written by Herbert Stollorz and published by Faith in Future Foundation. This book was released on 2008-09-17 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2012 and the End of Institutional Evil is an edited digest of Herbert R. Stollorz' two books, Apocalypse Prophesied and Mystery of Tammuz 17. Its 209 pages provide the core discoveries and reasoning found in the 1,000+ pages of those two books. A projected calendar of events describes the key players in the biblical Last Days: Satan, Antichrist, and the Mahdi. The books use science and mathematics to uncover extraordinary information in the Bible that theologians routinely miss. This unique approach presents a revolutionary new way of looking at the universe. The first book focused on Godâs Plan for Humanity from before time into eternity. The second book detailed Herbert R. Stollorzâ research methodology and thinking in an expanded discussion of the Last Days and the book of Revelation. His third book, Asteroid Answers to Ancient Calendar Mysteries, presents a hypothesis that explains why confirmation to the dating of key events in Bible prophecy may be found in the calendars and clocks of ancient cultures located around the world. It also explains other ancient mysteries by resolving apparent discrepancies between science and the Bible.
