Book excerpt: La qualité de réalisation des moules et matrices dépend de l'aptitude de chacune des activités du processus de conception et de fabrication à modéliser ou produire la géométrie attendue. Malgré l'intégration des contraintes de fabrication liées aux procédés d'obtention, il est difficile d'atteindre le niveau de qualité recherché car de nouvelles erreurs sont introduites lors de la génération des trajectoires. En effet, l'extraction de la géométrie nominale et sa remodélisation sous forme de trajets d'usinage introduit de nombreuses approximations. La surface d'usinage apporte une évolution du processus de conception des formes en intégrant les spécifications fonctionnelles au calcul du trajet d'usinage. Nous menons une démarche d'identification de la surface d'usinage pour le fraisage à 5 axes en bout avec un outil torique. Cette nouvelle modélisation est utilisée pour implémenter une stratégie d'usinage particulière dite à hauteur de crête constante en fraisage 3 et 5 axes. Celle ci améliore la qualité des surfaces usinées et permet d'augmenter la productivité de l'usinage et abaisser les coûts.

L'UGV implique de garantir une grande vitesse de déplacement des axes de la machine outil, donc d'introduire une plus grande continuité dans la trajectoire, de deux manières : soit en établissant une meilleure planification de l'orientation de l'axe de l'outil, soit en optimisant le format de description de la trajectoire elle même. L'introduction d'un nouveau format de description engendre un écueil: la singularité cinématique dont nous proposons un modèle géométrique et une méthode de déformation de la trajectoire de façon à l'éviter. La résolution de ce problème entre dans le cadre plus général de l'optimisation de l'orientation de l'axe de l'outil dans l'espace de travail en vue d'améliorer le comportement cinématique des axes de rotation de la machine outil.

Des machines-outils 3 axes, nous avons maintenant recours aux machines-outils 5 axes qui permettent d'usiner des formes de plus en plus complexes. Ces pièces à forte valeur ajoutée telles que les aubes de turbines doivent être traitées avec prudence. De la première étape, qui est la modélisation, à la dernière, qui est l'usinage, de nombreux paramètres vont intervenir et vont rendre difficile l'exécution finale. C'est un ensemble de tâches qui vont rendre conforme ou non le produit. La chaîne complète sera traitée en commençant par la modélisation, ensuite les parcours d'outil en 5 axes seront créés sous le logiciel Unigraphics. La troisième étape consiste à créer un postprocesseur, intégrant la linéarisation et la gestion de la vitesse en inverse du temps, adapté à la cinématique de la machine-outil (GAMBIN 120 CR). Une vérification sera faite à l'aide d'un logiciel de simulation (NC Simul) afin d'éviter tout risque de collision. L' étape ultime sera l'exploitation des fichiers et l'usinage d'une pièce. Différentes stratégies seront testées, et un comparatif entre un usinage en bout et un usinage en roulant sera réalisé. Par ailleurs, la problématique d'usiner des surfaces réglées non développables sera aussi traitée et nous étudierons différents positionnements afin de réduire les interférences entre l'outil et la surface à usiner. Le partenariat engagé avec un second éditeur (Open Mind) permettra de tester d'autres stratégies d'usinage adaptées pour ce type de pièce : l'impeller. Ce travail a permis de mettre en service la chaîne complète afin d'usiner sur cette machine-outil 5 axes simultanés et de faire un choix concernant le futur logiciel de FAO utilisé à l'ENSAM de Cluny.
