Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God has a desire. His ultimate desire is to bring out something good out of something insignificant or something bad. (Jabez is a classic example.) His desire is to reach to man to be saved from sin. Man needs to make up his mind, set goals about how to desire to make his life better. This is to be done against the background of the realization that Satan, in his wiles, is all out to pervert what is in the mind of God for man. This he does by working on man’s mind after carefully studying his weaknesses. Satan abuses his will and emotions and, thereby, perverts the rightful use of his senses; hence, he exhibits lust of eyes, lust of the flesh, and pride of life. This book is a treatise that unearths how Satan goes about making man to pervert his desires, the effect of this perversion on him and generations unborn, and how he can gain victory at the end of the day. It is a must-read for anyone who desires to be free from every perversion of life, particularly sexual perversion. Counselors, most especially men of God and pastors who are saddled with counseling responsibility and parents/guardians who need to provide proper direction and upbringing of their children and wards, will also find it most useful.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perversion of Love aims to explore the reasons why we as Christians may struggle to love ourselves and others through the lens of what Dr. Gary Chapman defined, and what has been accepted by popular culture, as the five love languages. Christians have been given a Great Commission which is to spread the Gospel and make disciples. The method by which we fulfill this commission is the greatest commandments-to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves. God created us to love, but we have an enemy whose goal is to destroy everything that God created, and his favorite method of destruction is perversion-the distortion, corruption, or alteration of a thing from its original course or design. So it makes sense that our enemy would seek to pervert the way we love ourselves and others in his attempt to stop the spread of the Gospel. So how does this perversion take place? I believe the enemy attacks us through our primary love language(s) and uses our very own parents as unwitting (and sometimes witting) participants to carry out his plan. Since we all receive love differently, the enemy will attack us in different ways, but there are some common tactics he uses depending on our love language. If we can learn to recognize the enemy's tactics for what they were/are, we can start the process of breaking the cycle of perversion in our lives and the generations to come. In doing so, we can learn to fully love God, ourselves, and others, and we will fulfill the purpose for which we were designed.

In an ethnography drawn from Christian sexuality websites, Kelsy Burke examines how some evangelical Christians use digital media to promote the idea that God wants married, heterosexual couples to have satisfying sex lives. These evangelicals maintain their religious beliefs while incorporating feminist and queer language into their talk of sexuality--encouraging sexual knowledge, emphasizing women's pleasure, and justifying marginal sexual practices within Christian marriages. This book complicates boundaries between normal and subversive, empowered and oppressed, and sacred and profane"--Provided by publisher.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this study, Andrew Bowden analyzes Paul's use of "desire" (ἐπιθυμέω, ἐπιθυμητής, and ἐπιθυμία) in his undisputed epistles. After introducing critical research on these lexemes, the author applies John Lyons's theory of semantic analysis to the use of ἐπιθυμέω κτλ in Roman imperial texts. Based on these observations, he makes a hypothesis concerning the common co-occurrences of "desire" in Roman imperial texts, its antonyms, the objects it longs for, and its use within metaphorical discourse. This hypothesis is then tested by looking at the use of "desire" in Dio Chrysostom, Epictetus, Lucian of Samosata, the Cynic epistles, and Second Temple Jewish texts. Andrew Bowden illustrates how, contrary to the view of many scholars, these Roman imperial authors consistently mention positive objects of "desire." He then applies these findings concerning "desire" to Paul, yielding important and sometimes unexpected discoveries. --

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lust isn't just a guy problem – it's a human problem. And unless we honestly confront it, lust will destroy our relationships and our lives. Joshua Harris, author of the runaway bestseller I Kissed Dating Goodbye, calls a generation bombarded with images of sexual sin back to the freedom and joy of holiness. This "PG-rated" book – straightforward without being graphic – speaks to those entrenched in lust or just flirting with temptation. Honestly sharing his own struggles, Harris exposes lust's tactics and helps readers create a personal plan for fighting back. Men and women will find hope in God's grace and learn the secrets to lasting change. Neither sex nor sexuality is our enemy. We need to rescue our sexuality from lust so we can experience it as God intended. Bestselling author Joshua Harris shows you how lust deceives you. Specific and honest without being graphic, this book–for both men and women–will guide you in creating a custom plan for fighting lust and celebrating purity. Praise for Sex Is Not the Problem (Lust Is) “For your joy and Christ’s honor, I commend this book to you. It is realistic, practical, and hope-giving.” -John Piper, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis “A beautiful blend of grace and truth. Joshua Harris raises high standards of holiness while carefully avoiding legalism. I highly recommend it.” -Randy Alcorn , bestselling author of The Treasure Principle and The Purity Principle “I am very encouraged that my longtime friend Josh Harris has written a book about lust. May God use this book to keep many from allowing their minds to become ‘the devil’s playground.’” -Rebecca St. James, singer/songwriter Story Behind the Book “I was preparing a message on lust when I realized that the book I wanted to consult hadn’t been written. That book would make it clear that only Jesus Christ can free us from the hopeless treadmill of shame and guilt that so many well-intentioned people end up on. It would instill a love for holiness and a hatred for sin without dragging the reader’s imagination through the gutter. And it would be for both men and women, because I’ve learned that lust isn’t just a guy problem–it’ s a human problem.” –Joshua Harris

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Indeed we have a responsibility to educate others on their human rights and freedoms as well as respect them. We can only do this when we first educate ourselves on the subject so we can teach others. In this book, the author does a fine job by helping us learn the thirty human rights of all mankind and the need to respect them. In fact, the book makes us to understand that we are all entitled to all the thirty human rights because we are humans not due to our sexual orientation. He has also helped us to understand to some extent how homosexuality develops and some signs to spot for homosexual proclivities. He has also done a tremendous work of showing us Gods (Allah) position on homosexuality by making references from both the Holy Bible and the noble Quran. If we need the right answer to the question, Human rights versus gay rights: which should we promote? then this book is a must read.
