The barrier of using sea sand in construction field is because of chloride that coating the particle which gives an effect to the concrete structure as well as the reinforcement bars inside that structure. In order to have pure sea sand, it was treated by performing a test as chloride test. The chloride content was estimated after the test is performed using pH as parameter since chloride is an acid substance. Sea sand, cement and water were used to produce mortar specimens that achieve grade 30 of compressive strength at 28 days. These specimens were employed using two different materials which are standard sand and sea sand and tested at 1, 3, 7, 14, and 28 days age of curing. Besides that, they were cured using two methods of curing processes which were air-curing and water-curing. The purpose of doing these processes is to define the characteristics of sea sand. After the specimens was done on compressive test, the designed grout material then used as repair material. The repair structure used was beams and tested on flexural testing to determine the tensile strength. From the experiment, it is concluded that sea sand mortar have achieve grade 30 at 28 days of curing. The repair beam had resulted more than 8 MPa of modulus of rupture which means that sea sand was acted well as repair material as well as filler. The final result from all experiments and testing proved that sea sand can be used as part of grout material and suitable to be applied for construction component as repair material. -Author.
