This book was released on 1959 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reactor and primary and secondary system design analyses of a prepackaged nuclear power plant are presented. The plant is of the pressurized water steam-electric generating type which is air transportable skid mounted and suitable for a remote site installation. The plant design incorporates the maximum degree of reliability and simplicity and the minimum degree of maintenance and cost. The plant is capable of producing a gross electrical output of 1000 kw(e) and 5 x 10/sup 6/ Btu/hr for space heating. The primary system generates a total of 6.5 Mw of heat in order to supply the required electrical and heating load. (W.D.M.).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear Power Plant Design and Analysis Codes: Development, Validation, and Application presents the latest research on the most widely used nuclear codes and the wealth of successful accomplishments which have been achieved over the past decades by experts in the field. Editors Wang, Li,Allison, and Hohorst and their team of authors provide readers with a comprehensive understanding of nuclear code development and how to apply it to their work and research to make their energy production more flexible, economical, reliable and safe.Written in an accessible and practical way, each chapter considers strengths and limitations, data availability needs, verification and validation methodologies and quality assurance guidelines to develop thorough and robust models and simulation tools both inside and outside a nuclear setting. This book benefits those working in nuclear reactor physics and thermal-hydraulics, as well as those involved in nuclear reactor licensing. It also provides early career researchers with a solid understanding of fundamental knowledge of mainstream nuclear modelling codes, as well as the more experienced engineers seeking advanced information on the best solutions to suit their needs. Captures important research conducted over last few decades by experts and allows new researchers and professionals to learn from the work of their predecessors Presents the most recent updates and developments, including the capabilities, limitations, and future development needs of all codes Incudes applications for each code to ensure readers have complete knowledge to apply to their own setting

Book Synopsis Design and Construction of Nuclear Power Plants by : Rüdiger Meiswinkel
Download or read book Design and Construction of Nuclear Power Plants written by Rüdiger Meiswinkel and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-04-10 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite all the efforts being put into expanding renewable energy sources, large-scale power stations will be essential as part of a reliable energy supply strategy for a longer period. Given that they are low on CO2 emissions, many countries are moving into or expanding nuclear energy to cover their baseload supply. Building structures required for nuclear plants whose protective function means they are classified as safety-related, have to meet particular construction requirements more stringent than those involved in conventional construction. This book gives a comprehensive overview from approval aspects given by nuclear and construction law, with special attention to the interface between plant and construction engineering, to a building structure classification. All life cycle phases are considered, with the primary focus on execution. Accidental actions on structures, the safety concept and design and fastening systems are exposed to a particular treatment. Selected chapters from the German concrete yearbook are now being published in the new English "Beton-Kalender Series" for the benefit of an international audience. Since it was founded in 1906, the Ernst & Sohn "Beton-Kalender" has been supporting developments in reinforced and prestressed concrete. The aim was to publish a yearbook to reflect progress in "ferro-concrete" structures until - as the book's first editor, Fritz von Emperger (1862-1942), expressed it - the "tempestuous development" in this form of construction came to an end. However, the "Beton-Kalender" quickly became the chosen work of reference for civil and structural engineers, and apart from the years 1945-1950 has been published annually ever since.
