Book excerpt: Creativity and innovation go hand in hand. This book presents a plethora of creative interventions in education, culture, expressions, communications, and other areas. Each chapter brings forth a core idea well attested on the scales of creative interventions. It is a collaborative effort to bring forth multidisciplinary creativity in the ever-evolving world of design, communication, and possibilities. There is really no logical order to the book. You do not necessarily have to start at the beginning, just find a chapter that interests you and read. I hope that you find the book stimulating as well as informative.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Shows that precolumbian tectonic forms (especially as found in sculpture and weaving) appear to be an overlooked source, or anticipation, of much of the art of the 20th century. Second part of book deals with artifacts as American art and addresses reception of ancient tectonics in the 20th century. Emphasizes intense relationship that some members of the New York School (particularly Barnett Newman and Adolph Gottlieb) had during 1940s with the aboriginal arts of the North American part of the hemisphere and thus the affinities between their work and the work of the older Torres Garcâia in Montevideo, at the other end of the continent"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
Download or read book The Split of Life written by Nabil Kanso and published by NEV Editions. This book was released on 1996 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents a vast expanse of materials, both aesthetic & human, encompassing a twenty-year period in Nabil Kanso's art. The works is organized in seven parts embodying the interweaving motifs & forces that have shaped the vista of THE SPLIT OF LIFE series. The selection includes the mammoth paintings on Vietnam, Hiroshima, South Africa, Lebanon, America, Slavery & the Holocaust. "The magnitude of Kanso's paintings places you in the midst of a beautiful & a violent cage in which a vast purgatory is reduced to the pupil of the eye. Brutal brushstrokes & intense colors blend with the subject matter: World chaos...such mastery is admirable, for the size of the canvases is more than big, it is heroic..."-- Hugo Figueroa, Panorama. "...A compulsive being substantiated by a beautiful faculty whose genius is the fact of the great truth."-- Ildebrando Rossi, Critica. "...A tapestry of souls...painted rhythms of naked spirits climbing an interminable Jacob's ladder in a metaphorical conflagration which repulses & then sucks us all in..."--Steve Seaberg, Art Paper. Download or read book Lukurmata written by Marc Bermann and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2014-07-14 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Household archaeology, together with community and regional settlement information, forms the basis for a unique local perspective of Andean prehistory in this study of the evolution of the site of Lukurmata, a pre-Columbian community in highland Bolivia. First established nearly two thousand years ago, Lukurmata grew to be a major ceremonial center in the Tiwanaku state, a polity that dominated the south-central Andes from a.d. 400 to 1200. After the Tiwanaku state collapsed, Lukurmata rapidly declined, becoming once again a small village. In his analysis of a 1300-year-long sequence of house remains at Lukurmata, Marc Bermann traces patterns and changes in the organization of domestic life, household ritual, ties to other communities, and mortuary activities, as well as household adaptations to overarching political and economic trends. Prehistorians have long studied the processes of Andean state formation, expansion, and decline at the regional level, notes Bermann. But only now are we beginning to understand how these changes affected the lives of the residents at individual settlements. Presenting a "view from below" of Andean prehistory based on a remarkably extensive data set, Lukurmata is a rare case study of how prehispanic polities can be understood in new ways if prehistorians integrate the different lines of evidence available to them.
