Book Synopsis Grandpa & Grandma’s Stories by : Geetika Goyal
Download or read book Grandpa & Grandma’s Stories written by Geetika Goyal and published by Diamond Pocket Books Pvt Ltd. This book was released on 2014-03-04 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There was a time when children used to go to their grandpa and grandma often. In a playful way, they would learn and absorb the beautiful values of life. But today, when everyone is becoming busier, at such a time, it is only the stories which can bring us closer to the future generation. Those moments at night before sleeping, when we and our little ones enjoy the stories together, are invaluable. In these moments, unknowingly, the love between us becomes stronger, and the children learn the first lesson of their lives—the value of beautiful relationships. The attempt has been to see each story through the eyes of a child, and to listen to each story with the ears of a child, and understand it with a child's heart. The effort has been that if there is any word which pricks their innocent minds, then that should not reach them through the medium of these stories. The effort here has been that each story has a positive end, from which the dreams of the children get a positive beginning.

Book Synopsis Follow the Spinning Sun by : Leandro Thomas Gonzales
Download or read book Follow the Spinning Sun written by Leandro Thomas Gonzales and published by Sunstone Press. This book was released on 2014-02-07 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Living in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, the Anasazi Indians enjoyed a good and bountiful life. Yet, for some reason, they abandoned their village and all that remains are the ruins of Tyuoni at the Bandelier National Monument in New Mexico. In this work of fiction, Jopin, an eighty year-old elder desperate for an answer, embarks on a prayer quest that takes him on a chain of events which will unveil the fate of Tyuoni. Deer-tracker, his pre-teen grandson, and Knee-nose, a young spotted deer, help Jopin deal with Chief Salamander’s questionable actions and motives as the tribe journeys on a treacherous and intriguing odyssey. In his story, the author strives to demonstrate how a significant religious event could have influenced the people to abandon their majestic village, join the Great Migration, and follow the spinning sun to their new homeland, even though popular belief purports that the Anasazi vanished because of war, severe drought, or famine. The wonder of living in such an extraordinary time and place will provoke interest in the age-old mystery of what really happened.
Book Synopsis Fred's Ozark Legacy by : Rosa Largent
Download or read book Fred's Ozark Legacy written by Rosa Largent and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-10-09 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Little Freddie was born out of wedlock to his teenage mother, Jenny Rakes, and his proud father, Jonathan Baker, who lived on the Ozark farm next to the Rakes. The desertion of his teen mother prior to his first birthday gave Freddie a family of only his maternal grandmother and his proud dad, Jonathan. At the death of his loving Grandmother Rakes, all that was left the preteen could call a "loving family" was his dad, Johnathan Baker. So as you can imagine his dad's shock when son, Fred, refused any schooling past the eighth grade, adding "ignorance" to the "out of wedlock" description of his son, Fred. His mother and her husband arrived prior to the end of Fred's teen years to visit with him and inform him he had three half brothers and a half sister since they had married. His refusal to say more than hello and not even see the "family" set the tone to his mother's life as it related to Fred. Before Fred finished his teen years, the family of his brother and sister, escorted by their half-sister, Penny, arrived unannounced and uninvited on his doorstep. His shock included his first question, to himself, What can I do for them? Of course, he had sympathy for them when he learned of the accidental death of their mother and father. His remaining teen years made it necessary for him to find a better paying job in the Ozarks and caused his life to be everything from horrible to misery. The way this transforms the children's relationship with Fred Baker and Penny Halloran, their half-sister, is an exciting and educational exhibit of the flying teen years. The arrival of the finishing touches to the family includes "fake" parents, nieces, nephews, grandparents, and all of 'em, as one says in the Ozarks. The close chase by a panther after their little sister, Sue Ann, reminds one just how dangerous even a ten year old can be. The teen boys needed little help going from the problem of working students to a wonderful loving Christian family.
Download or read book On A Dusty Road written by subhas and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2017-01-03 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On a Dusty Road is Subhas’ second novel. Imagination Drift: A Prince for Three Days, his first novel, was a satire on human perceptions and behaviour. On a Dusty Road is a documentary-novel that constructs the life and death of a promising young man. The fictionalized story is told through the recollections of those who knew Ravi and is revealed through short, impressionistic episodes and his close friendship with Sunny and the Dusty Road Boys. Part I follows the childhood escapades of the two friends. Sunny’s 'joie de vivre' and Ravi’s staid character are drawn into imagination and entrepreneurship when Ravi is given a bicycle. The joy of the pedal-power is short-lived and the boys, mainly through Sunny’s ambitions and Ravi’s desire, engage in raising money to fix the bike. Part II exposes Ravi’s sheltered life on the Dusty Road when he meets Daniel who is killed in an accident and learns of Sunny’s death as a 'murder for science'. In Part III the community coalesces to nurture Ravi's abilities with the expectation that he would bring recognition and change to the people on a Dusty Road, but life has it's own destination.

Of course the tale was a complete fabrication . . . but it shut down any further "interrogation!" Outrageous bits like this have kept the staff of Sunset Manor laughing and on their toes. Several of these devoted professionals have told me, "You ought to write a book!" So I did. These stories were initially intended to capture mom's unabashed personality and to acquaint the staff of with their new resident. As dementia has robbed mom of her memory, I wanted to share both the humor of the stories and the challenges of the illness with a wider audience and to raise funds for Sunset Manor, which has been instrumental in Myrt's well-being and longevity. As the staff discovers daily, Myrt still is a unique character at the age of 107!
