Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most neglected relationship is with yourself. Oftentimes, we give so much love and care for others, and give what’s just left for us, worst is we forget to care for ourselves the way we do for others. Self-love is more than the physical self-care: of pampering our bodies, enjoying what we want to do or where we spend time for our passions. It is more than the tangible things we provide ourselves with, as a gift or reward for an achievement. It is more than being kind to ourselves. Self-love is self-preservation of our sanity, our safety and our spirituality. It is loving the wholeness in us, the acceptance of our flaws and faults, the sense of self-worth. We all know these things, but it is the hardest to do: to love ourselves first. Thus, our love tank often runs dry of the supply of love to sustain us, simply because we sacrifice self-love. Know the five worst effects of sacrificing self-love, have a self-check as you go through each pages, and begin to affirm and promise to love yourself more!

But the stories were always passed down from her dad—and her mom, when she wasn’t too busy with her high-profile newscaster gig. But when Alaine’s life goes a bit sideways, it’s time to finally visit Haiti herself. What she learns about Haiti’s proud history as the world’s first black republic (with its even prouder people) is one thing, but what she learns about her own family is another. Suddenly, the secrets Alaine’s mom has been keeping, including a family curse that has spanned generations, can no longer be avoided. It’s a lot to handle, without even mentioning that Alaine is also working for her aunt’s nonprofit, which sends underprivileged kids to school and boasts one annoyingly charming intern. But if anyone can do it all...it’s Alaine. “Delightful.” —Essence magazine “Alaine Beauparlant is YA’s new favorite heroine.” —Author Nina Moreno for Bustle “Seamlessly blending story lines and allusions to Haiti’s history and culture, the authors create an indelible, believable character in Alaine—naive, dynamic, and brutally honest—who stretches and grows as her remarkable, affectingly rendered family relationships do.” —Publishers Weekly (starred review) “Sisters Maika and Maritza Moulite deliver a phenomenal coming-of-age story with this stunning novel.” —Booklist (starred review) “Enchanting.” —Kirkus Reviews Winner of a Parent’s Choice Award!
Book Synopsis The Reasons of Love by : Harry G. Frankfurt
Download or read book The Reasons of Love written by Harry G. Frankfurt and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2009-01-13 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller On Bullshit, a profound meditation on how and why we love In The Reasons of Love, leading moral philosopher and bestselling author Harry Frankfurt argues that the key to a fulfilled life is to pursue wholeheartedly what one cares about, that love is the most authoritative form of caring, and that the purest form of love is, in a complicated way, self-love. Through caring, we infuse the world with meaning. Caring provides us with stable ambitions and concerns, and it shapes the framework of aims and interests within which we lead our lives. Love is a nonvoluntary, disinterested concern for the flourishing of what we love—and self-love, as distinct from self-indulgence, is at heart of this concern. The most elementary form of self-love is no more than the desire to love, and self-love is simply a commitment to finding meaning in our lives.

Book Synopsis Dear Soul by : Sylvester Mcnutt, III
Download or read book Dear Soul written by Sylvester Mcnutt, III and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2015-10-04 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We live in a generation that lacks authenticity, honesty, and empathy. We do not understand each other or each other's struggles as human beings. Today, my culture needs more love and understanding than ever before. We need more healing, growing, and development than ever before. Our souls are being killed by technology, expectation, and separation. Dear Soul is my attempt at laying the groundwork for recovery, healing, and moving forward. Dear Soul is my journey journal written in conversationalist tone, a very intimate, introspective style of poetry, and it shows the twisted romantic observations of the world, which we have all seen. This book connects to every human because it is based on finding love after pain. Pain is something that is common to each of our stories. Let's be honest-how many of us are still suffering from incidents from our childhood? When we struggle in life, the problem is not the problem. The problem is not having adequate solutions or resources to really move forward from the stresses. Dear Soul is the ultimate book to help you take an introspective look inside to uncover a deeper connection with self and a deeper scope for possible solutions for any type of pain. As a writer, my style has been dubbed "visionary poetry," and my purpose is to combine observations, poetry, and persuasive logic. My only goal is to cause an intense amount of thought or reflection inside of each reader. I do not put my words together to be "right." Right and wrong are relative and based on a person's perception and experience. It would be egregious of you to tell me that anything I am writing about is wrong, and vice versa. Nothing is wrong; everything in life is all about perception and perspective. The user who will get the most from this book is one who will relate to the topics that are relevant to his or her personal growth. The other user is someone who will step outside of his or her bubble and understand another's struggle. Once you can holistically understand another person's struggle, then you have activated empathy, and I believe that empathy is the most important quality missing from our culture. Once you have a culture of people who understand each other, are comfortable with self, and able to communicate effectively, then you raise the vibration of the entire world with that energy. We sit inside of our bubbles and internalize the pain of everything that happens to us, but we don't align with our struggles or successes. I am genuinely happy when I see people succeed at something they've worked for. I am able to share the joy as if it were my own accomplishment. I am able to feel the pain of a woman who doesn't feel comfortable walking down the street at night alone. No, I have never been a woman, but I have listened to those stories and tried to put myself there. Let's just be honest. This generation does not talk about sex, race, or pain from our childhood. We ignore those topics and we ignore self-love. I never heard the word self-love when I was growing up. As a child, I also didn't hear the word love much. I went on several spiritual journeys in my early twenties to discover the deepest version of self. What I present to you here is a continuation of the journey. I am happy, I am healed, and I am as healthy as I can be. Today, I am sharing a spiritual, emotional, and health journey with you inside of these lines.

Book Synopsis Dear Dwayne, with Love by : Eliza Gordon
Download or read book Dear Dwayne, with Love written by Eliza Gordon and published by Lake Union Publishing. This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wannabe actress Dani Steele's résumé resembles a cautionary tale on how not to be famous. She's pushing thirty and stuck in a dead-end insurance job, and her relationship status is holding at uncommitted. With unbearably perfect sisters and a mother who won't let her forget it, Dani has two go-tos for consolation: maple scones and a blog in which she pours her heart out to her celebrity idol. He's the man her father never was, no boyfriend will ever be--and not so impossible a dream as one might think. When Dani learns that he's planning a fund-raising event where the winning amateur athlete gets a walk-on in his new film, she decides to trade pastries and self-doubt for running shoes and a sexy British trainer with adorable knees. But when Dani's plot takes an unexpected twist, she realizes that her happy ending might have to be improvised--and that proving herself to her idol isn't half as important as proving something to herself. * * * This is a work of fiction.
