It is an epistolary book-an email conversation of close to four years in which two women of different generations and different living situations-Myra lives in an Independent Living community and Max lives alone with her dog Betsy-share their thoughts about their lives and ponder the big questions of meaning that plague everyone who is alive and thinks. Despite health issues, we kept writing. Originally, we were motivated because we couldn't find anything to read about people 75 plus years old that seemed pertinent to us and was anything but myths, assumptions and opinions. Exploring, we learned how little literature there was about this age group at all and how it was pretty much limited to the "it's not as bad as all that, but old age is not for sissies" department with a tad of inspirational stuff thrown in. One large national study included a few "older" people, but told stories about at retirement now, how so many were able to create new careers of what they "really wanted to do" all along. There is no question people are living longer and as Baby Boomers encounter retirement age, more attention is being paid. Perhaps ageism will eventually come more to the forefront and the aging become visible and valued as they should be. We hope so. But there are those of us even older than Baby Boomers who are real social pioneers trekking along a path with few landmarks or touchstones to guide the way. In this book you will find out a lot about us. Frankly, we hope some of it will be helpful and that at least you know you are not alone. A few days ago, a friend responded to an email I'd sent by writing "Congratulations on refusing to retire!" I sent her back an email that said "This is what retirement looks like these days." Major changes in mental health laws are discussed, including the individual versus community rights in mental health systems. Chapter 4 examines art, violence, and mental illness, including historic artistic figures in which violence and/or mental illness was an issue. The artwork of serial killers such as Adolf Hitler, the psychiatrically institutionalized artist Martin Ramirez, and the Outsider artist Henry Darger are discussed. The author also describes her own experience as an expert witness for the trial of serial killer Eric Leonard. Chapter 5 displays the author's mass murderers’ artwork with a brief description of each event. Chapter 6 depicts the mass murders that occurred in the United States, October 2017 through September 2018. Chapter 7 portrays a reaction to the Marjorie Stone Douglas school shooting and the essay evoked by this tragedy. Chapter 8 offers practical suggestions to help art therapists find assistance and support in a dangerous practice. Safety orientation in art therapy education programs and job orientation are provided. Chapter 9 discusses additional practical suggestions for art therapists with help and support in a dangerous practice and culture. The last chapter encompasses final comments including the danger and calling of art therapy. This unique book will be of special interest to mental health practitioners, art therapists, social workers, educational therapists, and consultants.

Moreover, this study departs from the critical consensus that the earlier drafts of the novel are evidence of Fitzgerald's consummate artistry. Among the discoveries presented here are that Fitzgerald made no use of the 1922 calendar; that he did not work out the novel's time scheme until after completing about half of the manuscript version (possibly because he intended Gatsby to be much longer); and that, quite probably, he attempted to disguise at least some of the book's temporal misplacements and contradictions. Further, this study shows that even the most praised of Fitzgerald's revisions - his relocation of materials dealing with Gatsby's past so as to gradually reveal his secret - was apparently without exception accompanied by faulty temporal connections to the plot line.
