Book Synopsis J.M.G. Le Clézio Et la Métaphore Exotique by : Bruno Thibault
Download or read book J.M.G. Le Clézio Et la Métaphore Exotique written by Bruno Thibault and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2009 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: J.M.G.

Book Synopsis Language Et Ses Contexts by : Pierre-Alexis Mével
Download or read book Language Et Ses Contexts written by Pierre-Alexis Mével and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2010 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inspired by a postgraduate French studies conference (University of Nottingham, 10 September 2008), this volume explores linguistic form and content in relation to a variety of contexts, considering language alongside music, images, theatre, human experience of the world, and another language. Each essay asks what it is to understand language in a given context, and how, in spite of divergent expressive possibilities, a linguistic situation interacts with other contexts, renegotiating boundaries and redefining understanding. The book lies at the intersection of linguistics and hermeneutics, seeking to (a) contextualise philosophical and linguistic discussions of communication across a range of media and (b) illustrate their intimate relations, despite differing strategies or emphases.

This book was released on 2016-01-29 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Expressing location is one of the most common linguistic tasks that we perform in our daily lives. This book provides the first comprehensive analysis into how speakers of English and French use gesture as well as speech when describing where objects are located. It shows that spoken locative expressions are made up of both speech and gesture components, and that the two modalities contribute in a complementary fashion to convey locative meaning.

This book was released on 2008-12 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Dr. Anna Mancini
Book Synopsis Object Fantasies by : Philippe Cordez
Download or read book Object Fantasies written by Philippe Cordez and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2018-09-10 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the modern lexicon, ‘object’ refers to an entity that is materially constituted, spatially defined, and functionally determined. In contrast, the Latin word ‘fantasia’ has, since antiquity, referred to an apparition or the ability to imagine something that could be equally an object, an image, or a concept. This tension prompts further inquiry into the interrelations and differences between the experience of tangible objects (their perception and handling) and the creation of new objects (their conception and formation). What correlations exist between object fantasies, the self-consciousness of subjects, and the concrete and imagined conditions of human beings’ social lives? By addressing this question, this interdisciplinary book opens new perspectives in the field of object studies.

Book Synopsis The Multiple Meaning of Scripture by : Ineke Van 't Spijker
Download or read book The Multiple Meaning of Scripture written by Ineke Van 't Spijker and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2009-02-28 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the beginning of the Christian era and throughout the Middle Ages, biblical interpretation was the field where theological, philosophical and political matters were discussed. At the same time Scripture’s interpretation required the exploration of hermeneutical positions about how a literal and a hidden meaning could be established and how they related to each other. Ranging from early-Christian concerns about the text of the Bible itself, via Carolingian biblical commentaries, and the ever more diverse interpretations from the twelfth century and onwards, to the literary implications of (Jewish) commentary, the articles in this volume examine biblical exegesis both as a discourse on theology, philosophy and politics, and as the context for discussions on its underlying interpretative principles.
