Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The year is 1853. The place is Twin Oaks Plantation, Autauga County, Alabama. Twenty-one-year-old Obadiah Bradford's life is transformed forever when he accompanies his father to purchase a new household servant in nearby Selma. Obadiah is deeply affected by his immediate attraction and intense feelings for Penelope, the beautiful mulatto daughter of his family's new servant. These feelings will eventually present some of the greatest challenges of his and Penelope's lives. With the threat of civil war looming on the horizon, Dark Clouds Over Alabama is the heart-wrenching story of Obadiah, his forbidden love for Penelope, his struggles with the immorality of slavery, his service in the Confederate Army's medical corps, and how he overcomes every challenge by adhering to his traditional values, Christian beliefs, and deep faith in God. It is a story of love, life, hope, commitment, politics, tragedy, and triumph in the Old South that is quite simply a must read for anyone interested in this fascinating chapter in American history. Carl J. Barger grew up in the Ozark Mountains of Cleburne County, Arkansas, one of eleven children of migrant workers. After graduation from college, he coached high school basketball for five years then thirty-three years as a public school superintendent. He has authored three books: Swords and Plowshares, Mamie: An Ozark Mountain Girl of Courage, and Cleburne County and its People. Carl is now retired and resides in Conway, Arkansas, with Lena, his wife of forty-eight years. Publisher's website: http: //sbpra.com/CarlJBarger

Book excerpt: Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way Ma was a crafty lady who had been taught well by her father and mother, Elias Samuel Totten and Nancy Jane Bradford Totten. She learned to cook, sew, plow, hoe, pick cotton, do housework, and dry apples and peaches for fried pies. She worked like a man. She could plow behind a mule as well as most men. She could also pull her weight in using a crosscut saw for cutting logs and firewood for the fireplace, kitchen cook stove, and the big iron potbelly heating stove that heated our house. In Carl J. Barger’s latest book, Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way, he writes of growing up in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in Cleburne County, Arkansas. He relates his struggles and triumphs as the ninth child in a family of eleven children born during the Great Depression to Edward and Mamie Ann Totten Barger of Higden, Arkansas. Growing up in the small community of Higden, population 122, he experienced poverty as well as a thirst for knowledge and understanding, always dreaming of a better life. He remembers lying awake at night listening to his mother crying, while she wondered where the family’s next meal was coming from. His Pa would say, “Mamie, I’m going to take care of that. Don’t you worry!” Barger includes the people who made a difference in his life; people who challenged him, motivated him, and influenced the man he became. He gives credit where credit is due. Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way was written to inspire others who are struggling, not knowing what the future holds for them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book The Story Continues places the reader into a world of ravenous mad dogs and poorly planned orbital space flights. When the demand for prosperity, immortality and well-being become intolerable, the planet strikes the North American continent, knocking the global headquarters and the National Base of Operations of the Global Criminal Capitol Network out of business. Follow along with Susan, Robert, Dave, Recoil, Stank, and Flight Planner Purguine as they attempt to restore order in the only way they can – their own. About the Author David Black Nimmo wants to give readers a book to read in a bar parking lot or at a bus stop, and as something to do other than to have to deal with your girlfriend or boyfriend’s boring life. In his opinion, there are millions and millions of people without an author, so he placed The Story Continues into production, to provide them with one. The author, who was reportedly born aboard a large ship in the Gulf of Aden on the other side of Yemen, is the son of a BIS bookkeeper and a Scottish soldier, has spent his life creating works of literary genius for regional and local fans, and has written intriguing tales of madness and severity for years.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a college student, he was blessed to become a student intern in the Information Technology (IT) department where he continued to increase his computer skills as a part-time computer lab assistant and a computer troubleshooter. These roles pushed his skilled to a brand-new level. “After the internship was over, I followed my instructor everywhere he went so I could learn everything I could. I even stayed after hours to glean from his knowledge.” His instructor told him that he had never met anyone like him before. Someone who was hungry for knowledge. After graduating with a degree in computer science, he was offered a part-time job in the IT department. That job later became full-time. As a contributing co-author to Raising Frankie, he visited his parents twice a week to proofread and suggest any changes he felt were necessary. They wanted to make sure he was comfortable with every line before it went to publication. Since he has embraced the book, the three of us hope readers will share its content to assist anyone they know who is or have dealt with ADHD. Brenda is a retired educator who lives with her husband in North Carolina. During her academic career, she served in several capacities in the educational arena. These positions included teaching academically gifted to disadvantaged and handicapped students in high school, high school assistant principal, and supervisor/director of Career Technical Education Programs. She has also taught on the community college level. In her community, she serves on several church auxiliaries to include serving as a deaconess, member of the senior usher board, and as a Sunday school teacher. Because of her experiences working with attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD)—via students and their teachers—she wanted to share her knowledge and experiences with others through Raising Frankie. She hopes that loving and living this work will positively impact the lives of others as it has the Moody family. Frankie L. Moody Sr. (Moody), coauthor, is a United States Army Veteran and a retired lieutenant with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Presently, he is actively serving as a church deacon, president of the male ushers, Security Team member, Cub Scout Den Leader, and as a literacy tutor (for adults) with Triangle South Literacy Works. He also is employed part-time to transport people to and from medical appointments. In his years of working with people, Moody often imparted words of wisdom and encouragement whenever the opportunity presented itself. Brenda and Moody worked passionately together to first of all understand the characteristics of ADHD. Secondly, to embrace Frankie’s diagnosis so they could help him to deal with whatever he may have encountered academically as well as socially during his formative years. Toward that end, Moody spent his days off each week serving as a teacher assistant’s when Frankie was in elementary school. He also chaperoned every field trip and assisted with all of his sport activities. During high school, we worked together as a team to support Frankie as needed—to include how to handle unwarranted bullying. During high school and college, we realized that Frankie needed space to make his own decisions. With that said, we were always available and ready to activate whatever actions as were necessary to help Frankie to be successful without encroaching on his “I can do it on my own” abilities.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The United States Constitution is the oldest written constitution in the world. But what were its origins? Is it a “living” organism or, as the only alternative, a dead one? What influence, if any, has the U.S. Constitution had on Asian countries? Twenty scholars from around the world set out to pose answers to these questions. The result of their efforts is this book which looks at the U.S. Constitution from a global perspective. At times reinforcing existing knowledge, at times breaking new ground, the authors provide new insights into the role the U.S. Constitution has played in the development of governments in the two hundred years since its inception in 1787.

The politically synchronistic journey progresses, as Christina is poisoned, and then abducted from the hospital to become patient zero in a dehumanizing scheme to take over the world. A new government is erected in the heart of the old south, by releasing peoples' primal instincts through a new wonder drug. The Entities believe by releasing generational racism and hate on a massive scale, people will kill each other off so they don't have to. The loyal soldiers who remain, become perfect worker bees in Entity factories and fields. The hidden monster that has been brewing under the surface since Civil Rights, will destroy collective evolution if not for Jason, Christina and their band of conscious truth seekers.
