The language is harsh and direct, but shows what life truly was like by the stories and pictures of individuals who lived during this era. This book is for any history major or any individual who wants to find Americas dark past. It is filled with stories and language that may be disturbing to some, but shows the true life under slavery in America. This book has been left unedited as originally written in 1938-39.

Upon letting go of these things, I have began to heal and forgive myself and others. Growing up in a dysfunctional family in the 50s and 60s was difficult. I have learned to love myself and to forgive. To let God remake me from the inside out. I rely on my faith in him. I feel God has blessed me in all things in his Words.
Book Synopsis Problem Fathers in Shakespeare and Renaissance Drama by : Tom MacFaul
Download or read book Problem Fathers in Shakespeare and Renaissance Drama written by Tom MacFaul and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2012-09-20 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fathers are central to the drama of Shakespeare's time: they are revered, even sacred, yet they are also flawed human beings who feature as obstacles in plays of all genres. In Problem Fathers in Shakespeare and Renaissance Drama, Tom MacFaul examines how fathers are paradoxical and almost anomalous characters on the English Renaissance stage. Starting as figures of confident authority in early Elizabethan drama, their scope for action becomes gradually more restricted, until by late Jacobean drama they have accepted the limitations of their power. MacFaul argues that this process points towards a crisis of patriarchal authority in wider contemporary culture. While Shakespeare's plays provide a key insight into these shifts, this book explores the dramatic culture of the period more widely to present the ways in which Shakespeare's work differed from that of his contemporaries while both sharing and informing their artistic and ideological preoccupations.

Download or read book MY TWO FATHERS written by ELVIRA THOMAS and published by Writers Republic LLC. This book was released on 2021-04-16 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells my story of childhood trauma that affected the most important relationship in my life. I grew up under the control of an extremely abusive father. Love was mixed with what I can only describe as hate, and sweet family memories were overshadowed by fear and anxiety. It was not until I reached adulthood that I realized how much this trauma affected my view of God. My Heavenly Father was so different from my earthly father, but yet I related one to the other, and the mistrust of one caused the mistrust of the other. It was a long, emotional journey, but truly God redeems. It took a long time for me to realize that I was not alone. People carry a lot of baggage, they carry a lot of memories, and they carry a lot of pain. This book is to let people know that they are not alone and that healing is definitely within their reach. My hope is that parents read this and take seriously the impact they have on their children’s lives. I also hope the people who have suffered pain and abuse would hold on tightly to God. He is ultimately our Healer.

Book Synopsis What it Means to be Daddy by : Jennifer Hamer
Download or read book What it Means to be Daddy written by Jennifer Hamer and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Absent fathers and households headed by single mothers are frequently blamed for the poor quality of life of African-American children. This book challenges these assumptions, arguing that they are largely an unfair reflection of non-working class white American values. Hamer places the behaviors of black non-custodial fathers in their social, political, and economic contexts and describes these fatherless families from the perspectives of the families themselves.
