Download or read book The Dab written by Elisha Burge and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-12-07 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author wrote this book to give us some sort of an insight into the mindset that war tends to put you into. Its an interesting place, and I really wanted yall to get an understanding, or at least familiarization with it He succeeds admirably! All the footage weve seen, the movies, the shows, none of them prepare us for the reality of day-to-day life of an infantryman fighting for us in Afghanistan. He went as an idealist, fighting for his country and his dream of freedom. He begged to stay at the end of his deployment. And though he came home with no physical scars, he is forever changed, his health compromised, but his dream intact. His story is compelling, and leaves one grateful beyond measure for the sacrifices made for us on a daily basis by all of the people in our armed forces.

But it’s the attic that yields the most heart-stopping surprise. In a discreetly hidden antique crate, Avery finds a clue to a decades-old missing persons case. As Avery works on the house and delves deeper into the sinister story, it becomes clear that someone very crafty wants the Craftsman home’s secrets to stay that way!
Book Synopsis Politics and Palestinian Literature in Exile by : Joseph Farag
Download or read book Politics and Palestinian Literature in Exile written by Joseph Farag and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2016-11-14 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite, or even because of their tumultuous history, Palestinians are renowned for being prolific cultural producers, creating many of the Arab world's most iconic works of literature. In particular, the Palestinian short story stands out for its unique interplay between literary texts and the political and historical contexts from which they emerge. Palestinian Literature in Exile is the first English language study to explore this unique genre. Joseph Farag employs an interdisciplinary approach to examine the political function of literary texts and the manner in which cultural production responds to crucial moments in Palestinian history. Drawing from the works of Samira Azzam, Ghassan Kanafani and Ibrahim Nasrallah, Farag traces developments in the short story as they relate to the pivotal events of what the Palestinians call the Nakba ('catastrophe'), Naksa ('defeat') and First Intifada ('uprising'). In analysing several as yet un-translated works, Farag makes an original contribution to the subject of exilic identity and subjectivity in Palestinian literature. This book offers the opportunity to engage with literary works as well to learn from a literary account of history. It is a subject of interest for students and scholars of both Arabic literature and Middle East studies.
Book Synopsis A Little Bit of Ivey by : Lorelei Branam
Download or read book A Little Bit of Ivey written by Lorelei Branam and published by eBookIt.com. This book was released on 2012-12-17 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Call me Ivey Mae. I have been interested in boys since I realized they weren't girls. Literally. After a tonsillectomy at age five, my first comment was, "The doctor is cute." When I was eighteen my dad started calling me Will Rogers after the actor who infamously stated that he'd never met a man he didn't like. My mother has always wondered what is wrong with me, but the answer is right in her mirror. As a blossoming novelist, I let my southern roots color the world around me. My books grapple with my alter ego and the romantic dalliances with her dashingly handsome muse. But in reality, I am staying married-this time-living with my husband, our 6 children, and 30 pets-and no, we don't live on a farm, but smack dab in suburbia. My husband thinks rabbits and guinea pigs are family and shouldn't be separated. But after 22 baby, inbred rodents, I said, "Family, my rear end!" and separated the boys and girls. My dear mother is now a widow and lives next door. And although she is lonely, she is thoroughly enjoying her seat in the I-am-old-and-can-do-what-I-want boat. She's the one using a shower cap instead of an umbrella and bright-colored laundry baskets instead of a suitcase. Oh, and as it turns out, she doesn't really like me or animals. I know, hilarious. You can't make this stuff up, although Mother would probably tell you that I do. Our lives would make for a train-wreck type entertaining genuine reality show. But our commotion would just run off the TV crew, so-for now-my stories will have to do.

Download or read book Selenium Contamination in Water written by Pooja Devi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-06-21 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contamination of environment and water resources by Selenium (Se) and its oxyanions from various sources are emerging contaminants of significant health and environmental concern. The primary sources include agricultural drainage water, mine drainage, residues from fossil fuels, thermoelectric power plants, oil refineries, and metal ores. Various methods and technologies have been developed which focus on the treatment of selenium-containing waters and wastewater. High concentrations of selenium in water cause various adverse impact to human health, such as carcinogenic, genotoxic, and cytotoxic effects. But in the lower concentrations, it is a useful constituent of the biological system. The range between toxicity and deficiency of selenium is minimal (40 to 400 μg per day), due to its dual nature. Selenium Contamination in Water contains the latest status and information on selenium’s origin, its chemistry and its toxicity to humans. The book represents a comprehensive and advanced reference book for students, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in working in the field of metalloids, in particular selenium. A special emphasis is given on its geological distribution, monitoring techniques, and remedial technologies. As such, the authors critically analyze the various techniques used for the monitoring and removal of selenium from water. Featuring chapters arranged according to the major themes of the latest research, with specific case-studies from industrial experiences of selenium detection and removal, Selenium Contamination in Water will be particularly valued by researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in working in the field of metalloids including selenium.
