Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Mathematicians David Fisher, Dmitry Kleinbock, and Gregory Soifer highlight in this edited collection the foundations and evolution of research by mathematician Gregory Margulis. Margulis is unusual in the degree to which his solutions to particular problems have opened new vistas of mathematics. Margulis' ideas were central, for example, to developments that led to the recent Fields Medals of Elon Lindenstrauss and Maryam Mirzhakhani. The broad goal of this volume is to introduce these areas, their development, their use in current research, and the connections between them. The foremost experts on the topic have written each of the chapters in this volume with a view to making them accessible by graduate students and by experts in other parts of mathematics"--
Book Synopsis Recent Developments in Mathematical, Statistical and Computational Sciences by : D. Marc Kilgour
Download or read book Recent Developments in Mathematical, Statistical and Computational Sciences written by D. Marc Kilgour and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-08-29 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book constitutes an up-to-date account of principles, methods, and tools for mathematical and statistical modelling in a wide range of research fields, including medicine, health sciences, biology, environmental science, engineering, physics, chemistry, computation, finance, economics, and social sciences. It presents original solutions to real-world problems, emphasizes the coordinated development of theories and applications, and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration among mathematicians, statisticians, and researchers in other disciplines. Based on a highly successful meeting, the International Conference on Applied Mathematics, Modeling and Computational Science, AMMCS 2019, held from August 18 to 23, 2019, on the main campus of Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Canada, the contributions are the results of submissions from the conference participants. They provide readers with a broader view of the methods, ideas and tools used in mathematical, statistical and computational sciences.

Download or read book Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science 2004 written by Jirí Fiala and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-08-06 with total page 916 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the papers presented at the 29th Symposium on Mat- matical Foundations of Computer Science, MFCS 2004, held in Prague, Czech Republic, August 22–27, 2004. The conference was organized by the Institute for Theoretical Computer Science (ITI) and the Department of Theoretical Com- terScienceandMathematicalLogic(KTIML)oftheFacultyofMathematicsand Physics of Charles University in Prague. It was supported in part by the Eu- pean Association for Theoretical Computer Science (EATCS) and the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM). Traditionally, the MFCS symposia encourage high-quality research in all branches of theoretical computer science. Ranging in scope from automata, f- mal languages, data structures, algorithms and computational geometry to c- plexitytheory, modelsofcomputation, andapplicationsincludingcomputational biology, cryptography, security and arti?cial intelligence, the conference o?ers a unique opportunity to researchers from diverse areas to meet and present their results to a general audience. The scienti?c program of this year’s MFCS took place in the lecture halls of the recently reconstructed building of the Faculty of Mathematics and P- sics in the historical center of Prague, with the famous Prague Castle and other celebratedhistoricalmonumentsinsight.Theviewfromthewindowswasach- lengingcompetitionforthespeakersinthe?ghtfortheattentionoftheaudience. But we did not fear the result: Due to the unusually tough competition for this year’s MFCS, the admitted presentations certainly attracted considerable in- rest. The conference program (and the proceedings) consisted of 60 contributed papers selected by the Program Committee from a total of 167 submissions.
