A tal efecto, en primer lugar, se realiza una reflexión sobre el origen europeo, en la civilización occidental, del DI contemporáneo. Y sobre cómo en la globalización actual es necesaria una aproximación transcivilizatoria, que suponga una mejor comprensión y diálogo entre las civilizaciones. La cultura constituye hoy un paradigma en el sentido de que ha afectado a diversos aspectos del ordenamiento, lo que ha generado numerosos debates. Se abordan los desarrollos normativos de la cultura en el orden internacional. Se analiza también el sistema normativo desde la perspectiva cultural, el desafío de los particularismos culturales para el DI de los derechos humanos, o el papel de la cultura en las organizaciones internacionales universales y regionales. Una parte importante de la obra se dedica a la protección internacional del patrimonio cultural en el DI, donde se abordan los diferentes convenios de la UNESCO, la protección en los conflictos armados, las reclamaciones y restituciones de bienes culturales. El libro culmina con dos capítulos relativos al papel de la cultura en la acción exterior y en el diálogo internacional. Se trata de la primera obra que pone bajo el mismo prisma los diferentes elementos de lo que cabe calificar como Derecho internacional de la cultura. "

Tercero, porque el modelo bolivariano ofrece una respuesta democrática y solidaria al capitalismo salvaje que propone el neo-liberalismo en la actualidad. Venezuela hoy nos ofrece algo radicalmente diferente, es "la posibilidad optimista" de una democracia nueva, solidaria, soberana, socialista, moderna, no dogmática y por qué no, ecológica.

Book excerpt: In force in 70 countries around the world and covering more than two thirds of world trade, the 1980 United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) is considered to be the most successful convention promoting international trade. According to many commentators, this success is due, among others, to the fact that the Convention does not directly impact on the domestic law of the various legal systems, as it applies only to international - as opposed to purely domestic - contracts. The Convention, in other words, does not impose changes in the domestic law, which makes it easier for States to adopt the Convention. This does not mean, however, that the Convention does not have any impact on the domestic law at all. This book analyzes - through 24 country reports as well as a general report submitted to the 1st Intermediate Congress of the International Academy of Comparative Law held in November 2008 in Mexico City - to what extent the Convention de facto influences domestic legal systems. In particular, the book examines the Convention's impact on the practice of law, the style of court decisions as well as the domestic legislation in the area of contract law.
