Download or read book Molecular Properties V4 written by Douglas Henderson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 855 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physical Chemistry: An Advanced Treatise, Volume IV: Molecular Properties provides the aspects of the properties of single molecules and physical methods available for their determination. This book discusses linear polyatomic molecules, quantum-mechanical theory of vibrations, spectra of organic molecules, production and detection of free radicals, and force constants and molecular structure. The Hund's coupling cases for diatomic molecules, methods of measuring dipole moments, NMR spectra, and ESR spectra of organic species are also elaborated. This publication likewise covers the applications of the Mössbauer effect, electric deflection experiments, and effects of intramolecular motions on diffraction patterns. This volume is intended for graduate and physical chemistry students interested in molecular properties.

Book Synopsis Atom - Molecule Collision Theory by : Richard Barry Bernstein
Download or read book Atom - Molecule Collision Theory written by Richard Barry Bernstein and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 785 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The broad field of molecular collisions is one of considerable current interest, one in which there is a great deal of research activity, both experi mental and theoretical. This is probably because elastic, inelastic, and reactive intermolecular collisions are of central importance in many of the fundamental processes of chemistry and physics. One small area of this field, namely atom-molecule collisions, is now beginning to be "understood" from first principles. Although the more general subject of the collisions of polyatomic molecules is of great im portance and intrinsic interest, it is still too complex from the viewpoint of theoretical understanding. However, for atoms and simple molecules the essential theory is well developed, and computational methods are sufficiently advanced that calculations can now be favorably compared with experimental results. This "coming together" of the subject (and, incidentally, of physicists and chemists !), though still in an early stage, signals that the time is ripe for an appraisal and review of the theoretical basis of atom-molecule collisions. It is especially important for the experimentalist in the field to have a working knowledge of the theory and computational methods required to describe the experimentally observable behavior of the system. By now many of the alternative theoretical approaches and computational procedures have been tested and intercompared. More-or-Iess optimal methods for dealing with each aspect are emerging. In many cases working equations, even schematic algorithms, have been developed, with assumptions and caveats delineated.

Book Synopsis Alkali Halide Vapors by : P. Davidovits
Download or read book Alkali Halide Vapors written by P. Davidovits and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 555 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alkali Halide Vapors: Structure, Spectra, and Reaction Dynamics highlights the various studies done in the subject area of alkali halide chemistry. These studies have resulted to providing many relevant insights and paving the way for the study of more complex chemical systems. This book ultimately reviews and summarizes the said studies. This text is divided into two categories: structural and spectral properties of the alkali halide molecules and dynamics of various alkali atom-halogen reactions. The first category is discussed in Chapters 1, 3-5, and 15, while the second category is presented in Chapters 6-14. Chapter 2 however belongs to neither of the said categories as it describes the techniques and considerations related to alkali halogen experiments. Numerous quantitative data in table format are presented all of the discussions in this book. An index of these tables has been compiled and can be found in the last part of the book. This book will be a valuable material to students, scientists, and researchers in the scientific field of chemistry, physics, and applied science.
