It brings together the latest research from sociology and media studies concerning the circulation of far-right messages in the era of digitalization and the ‘hybrid media system’, and critical discursive psychology research into political and lay discourse pertaining to multiculturalism. Drawing on empirical material from the Nordic context allows for an analysis of political discourse within societies in which a strong tradition of social democratic welfare states now exists alongside the rise of populist and far-right parties. Operating in countries with comparatively high national internet and social media penetration, this book explores the extent to which the success of these parties is linked to their skilful use of social media, in order to mobilise popular support for their political agendas. Paraphrasing a bit, it went something like this: "As slaves, Black people had to borrow from the bank of imagination to put a down payment on hope and possibility." With this book, I want to make possible the idea that Black students can actually attend any college or university, and have hope that their culture, experiences, and perspectives will be supported and affirmed when they arrive. Moreover, I want Black students to use their cultural attributes and experiences to connect and work with all students on college campuses from across cultures and backgrounds to help build and sustain an inclusive, equitable, and intellectually vibrant community.It has been argued that multicultural practices that do not intend to transform the usual politics of institutional culture will lead only to assimilation of people to the dominant status quo. It is my sincere hope that college administration, faculty, and staff utilize the information provided in this book to increase the chances of recruiting, retaining, and graduating Black male students on their campus, to support and expand the educational opportunities for all groups, and to better understand and implement multicultural education at all levels.
