Download or read book Cowboy and Cowgirl Poems written by Alan R. Gatrell and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2007-05 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I will begin by telling you a little about the person who I am and how I came to write these pages..... Today, I own and operate a real working cattle ranch along with a Country Western Bar and Grill, Western Wear, Feed and Saddle at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. I grew up in a small farming community in rolling hills of rural Ohio. I enlisted in the Military at age 17 and was selected by the US CID to do covert operations in the North Carolina region of USACIDC. I worked as a CID Agent for 7 years and then left the CID but continued to work with special operations for an additional two years. After 10 years of working as a covert undercover officer. I decided to change direction and become and retired a North Carolina State Trooper. The following poems and short stories were inspired by true events or friends who have touched my life in some matter and have forever changed my life. It is said that friendship is clairvoyant. With a true friend words are never needed. What you enjoy doing together will come natural and such a friendship shall stand throughout the ages. I hope you find such a friendship in your life and then you savor each day and share it with that someone special in your life as you go. Whether we realize it or not, everyone we know is very special to us. When we look back on our younger years, we will remember The people who went to school with us, the people who made us laugh, the people who hung out with us when nobody else would, and the people who made our lives much better simply by being a part of it. That's the wonderful thing about friendship--you always feel loved and cared about. The most important thing to remember is to always appreciate the friends that you have.... Seek out and find the time in each day to see the Beauty and Love in the world around you....

Then into their lives crashes Teddie Arizona—T.A.—a woman of mystery who crawls out of the wreckage of her plane with a $500,000 secret. When T.A.’s “husband,” F. Rank Pantaker, dispatches his henchmen to retrieve the money—and the girl—Lick and Al find themselves trying to outrun the bad guys and protect a damsel in distress. Is T.A. out to cheat her cheatin’ husband, or is she really just trying to stop an illegal scheme cooked up by F. Rank and the infamous Ponce de Crayon, Vegas’s most glamorous tiger tamer? Is she playing Lick—or is it love? Will Al Bean’s cockeyed schemes, an able assist from Cody, Lick’s cowboy sidekick, a brigade of old-time rodeo reunioneers, and twenty miles of duct tape be enough to stop F. Rank’s nefarious schemes, reform a career party girl, and change the hearts and minds of ten of the world’s most thrill-seeking billionaires? Can Cody keep Lick from climbing onto raging bull Kamikaze’s back one more time? Can true love triumph over shoot-outs at the not-so-okay corral and close encounters with white tigers? With its colorful cast of characters, rip-roaring humor, and inventive language, this caper will have you riding high long after it gallops to a thunderously satisfying conclusion.

To make matter worse, Imogene Louise Lathrup, the cowgirl next door, shows up and is all too happy to point out Conrad’s shortcomings. In the follow-up to their smash hit Pirates on the Farm, author Denette Fretz and illustrator Gene Barretta team up once again to tell a humorous tale about loving your neighbor. Kids will enjoy the cowboy terminology in the back of the book, while parents will appreciate the letter from the author that includes questions that encourage discussion about what loving your neighbor really means.

Book Synopsis Even Cowgirls Get the Blues by : Tom Robbins
Download or read book Even Cowgirls Get the Blues written by Tom Robbins and published by Bantam. This book was released on 2003-06-17 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “This is one of those special novels—a piece of working magic, warm, funny, and sane.”—Thomas Pynchon The whooping crane rustlers are girls. Young girls. Cowgirls, as a matter of fact, all “bursting with dimples and hormones”—and the FBI has never seen anything quite like them. Yet their rebellion at the Rubber Rose Ranch is almost overshadowed by the arrival of the legendary Sissy Hankshaw, a white-trash goddess literally born to hitchhike, and the freest female of them all. Freedom, its prizes and its prices, is a major theme of Tom Robbins’s classic tale of eccentric adventure. As his robust characters attempt to turn the tables on fate, the reader is drawn along on a tragicomic joyride across the badlands of sexuality, wild rivers of language, and the frontiers of the mind.
