Book Synopsis Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Beams Subjected to Fire by : Bruce R. Ellingwood
Download or read book Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Beams Subjected to Fire written by Bruce R. Ellingwood and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methods for analytically predicting the behavior of simply supported reinforced concrete beams subjected to fire are presented. This is generally a two-step process involving a thermal analysis followed by a stress analysis. This study emphasizes the latter, wherein the determination of moment-curvature-time relationships for the beam cross section incorporates the temperature-dependent strength degradation in the steel and concrete as well as thermal and creep strains. The sensitivity of the predictions to various phases of analytical modeling is investigated to establish the parameters most important for the prediction of beam behavior and to indicate where additional data should be gathered. A comparison of predicted behavior with that observed in fire tests shows excellent agreement when realistic reinforcement temperature histories are used.

Book Synopsis Strengthening of Concrete Structures by : Amr Abdelrahman
Download or read book Strengthening of Concrete Structures written by Amr Abdelrahman and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents unified design approach for strengthening concrete members with different techniques such as concrete, steel, and FRP jacketing. Preference between the various techniques is explained in light of strengthening limits, procedures, and application for each case. Examples for evaluation of existing structures and design equations for strengthening concrete elements are presented based on the ACI design codes and standards. Numerical examples are also given for different strengthening techniques with illustrations for the construction methodology and detailing for each case.Several case studies are explained starting from problem diagnosis, structure analysis, proposal for different strengthening methodologies, and implementation procedure for the selected scheme. The case studies include structures subjected to gravity loads, lateral loads, elevated temperature, and differential settlement of the foundations. It addresses design and construction errors, environmental impact, and soil movement. The case studies include conventional reinforced concrete, post-tensioned, and precast concrete members.

Book Synopsis Concrete for Large Floating Structures by : Douglas Wilson
Download or read book Concrete for Large Floating Structures written by Douglas Wilson and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report is the result of an investigation of the suitability of reinforced concrete as a structural and hull material for use in large floating platforms. History, materials, methods, and quality control requirements are reviewed. The findings support the conclusion that high quality concrete is acceptable and economical for application to large floating platforms, and that both design and quality control requirements can be met within the present state of the concrete art.
