Book Synopsis Design of Digital Computers by : Hans W. Gschwind
Download or read book Design of Digital Computers written by Hans W. Gschwind and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have been using the first edition of this book as a text for a number of years. This was in a Stanford University first-year graduate course that is taken by students from Electrical Engineering or Computer Science who are interested in computer organization. Because computer tech nology has been changing so rapidly, it became necessary to supplement the text with additional readings. My colleagues and I examined many newly-published books for possible use as texts. We found no book with the same excellent choice of topics and thorough coverage as Dr. Gschwind's first edition. Springer-Verlag's request that I prepare a second edition of this book came at a time when I had many other projects underway. Before I de cided whether to take on the project of preparing a revision, I asked many of my students for their opinions of Dr. Gschwind's first edition. Even I was surprised by the enthusiasm that this rather skeptical and critical group of students displayed for the book. It was this enthusiasm that convinced me of the value and importance of preparing the revision.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CMOS Circuits Manual is a user's guide for CMOS. The book emphasizes the practical aspects of CMOS and provides circuits, tables, and graphs to further relate the fundamentals with the applications. The text first discusses the basic principles and characteristics of the CMOS devices. The succeeding chapters detail the types of CMOS IC, including simple inverter, gate and logic ICs and circuits, and complex counters and decoders. The last chapter presents a miscellaneous collection of two dozen useful CMOS circuits. The book will be useful to researchers and professionals who employ CMOS circuits in their work, such as practical design engineers.

Book Synopsis 110 Semiconductor Projects for the Home Constructor by : R. M. Marston
Download or read book 110 Semiconductor Projects for the Home Constructor written by R. M. Marston and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-05-13 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 110 Semiconductor Projects for the Home Constructor describes practical circuits, simple amplifiers, relay driving circuits, electronic switches operated by light or by sound, amplifiers with high input impedances, voltage regulators, and a constant-volume amplifier. Other circuits include wave-form generators, analogue-to-digital converters, logic circuits, frequency dividers, a d.c. chopper, and power controller circuits. The book describes the characteristics of the 2N29s6 npn manufactured by G.E.C. and the 2N3702 pnp where, in conjunction with a Schmitt trigger or a voltage operated electronic switch, these transistors can be used in voltage regulator circuits, light operated switches, or timer switches. The text also discusses the junction-gate field-effect transistors which can be used as amplifiers, or when used in conjunction with ordinary transistors, give superb performance in hybrid circuits. Field-effect transistors can also be used in timer circuits or in constant-volume amplifiers. The book explores the unijunction transistor that can be used in wide-range pulse generators, wide-range saw-tooth generator, analogue/digital converter, as well as a variable on/off-time lamp flasher. In high power switching projects, the silicon controlled-rectifier, also known as a thyristor, can be used. The book is suitable for radio technicians, engineers, apprentices, and students of electrical engineering or electronics.
Book Synopsis Digital Principles and Logic Design by : Arijit Saha
Download or read book Digital Principles and Logic Design written by Arijit Saha and published by Jones & Bartlett Learning. This book was released on 2009-01-28 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text and reference provides students and practicing engineers with an introduction to the classical methods of designing electrical circuits, but incorporates modern logic design techniques used in the latest microprocessors, microcontrollers, microcomputers, and various LSI components. The book provides a review of the classical methods e.g., the basic concepts of Boolean algebra, combinational logic and sequential logic procedures, before engaging in the practical design approach and the use of computer-aided tools. The book is enriched with numerous examples (and their solutions), over 500 illustrations, and includes a CD-ROM with simulations, additional figures, and third party software to illustrate the concepts discussed in the book.

Book Synopsis Video Scrambling & Descrambling by : Rudolf F. Graf
Download or read book Video Scrambling & Descrambling written by Rudolf F. Graf and published by Newnes. This book was released on 1998 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Video Scrambling and Descrambling for Satellite & Cable TV provides the "how and why" of encoding and decoding video signals. Most of the currently used methods are discussed, with the necessary technical background. Since digital scrambling methods will undoubtedly supplant analog methods, information on analog/digital conversion, phase-locked loops, digital techniques, and IC data sheets are included. In this new edition the authors incorporate the many developments in this field since 1986. They elaborate the basic information on scrambling given in the first edition, and discuss current scrambling systems such as Tri-mode, SSAVI, and Videocipher II. Looking back at the "gloom and doom" predictions made in the 80s, they discuss which have proven correct, which have yet to be realized, and which have been wrong. Their discussion of basic circuitry now includes some new IC devices, and the section on political, legal and consumer aspects of scrambling has been completely updated. New digitization techniques and construction data, decoder circuitry, audio scrambling techniques, manufacturers' data sheets, US Patents, and current developments such as digital audio are also covered in this updated version. Complete revision of a best-seller Explains the theory and operation of encoding/decoding systems Scrambling & descrambling circuits

Book Synopsis 110 Waveform Generator Projects for the Home Constructor by : R. M. Marston
Download or read book 110 Waveform Generator Projects for the Home Constructor written by R. M. Marston and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-03-16 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 110 Waveform Generator Projects for the Home Constructor deals with waveform generator circuits that can produce forms of sine, square, triangle, sawtooth, ramp, pulse, or staircase. The generator circuits, built by the constructor using transistors, operational amplifiers or digital integrated circuits, can produce modulated or unmodulated outputs, with single or multiple form outputs. The constructor must follow two requirements in building a simple sine-wave oscillator: firstly, the output of an amplifying device must be fed back to its input via a frequency-selective network in such a way that the sum of the amplifier and feedback network phase-shifts equals zero (or 360) degrees at the desired oscillation frequency. Secondly, the gain of the amplifying device must exactly counter the loss or attenuation of the frequency-selective feedback network at the desired oscillation frequency, to give an overall system gain of precise unity. The book also describes different waveform modulations, such as amplitude modulation (a.m.), frequency modulation (f.m.), frequency-shift keying (f.s.k.), phase-shift keying (p.s.k.), sweep modulation, carrier keying, and how to apply these in practical circuits. Radio technicians, engineers, apprentices, hobbyists, and students of electrical engineering or electronics will find the book very useful.
