The book's key features include an overview of general elements and the relevance of those aspects, with a focus on the applications in the pharmaceutical field. is a standard textbook that is often used for an introductory level inorganic chemistry undergraduate course. It provides a complete pedagogical framework to assist students with understanding essential concepts. This book gives a decent introduction to the topic; explains a variety of inorganic compounds as well as the minimal chemical facts and ideas that are required to comprehend current inorganic chemistry; offers a good overview of the subject. provides an advanced and in-depth descriptive treatment of all of the official compounds featured, with a significant emphasis on the production, characteristics, assay, and medicinal uses of the compounds. The book “A Textbook of Pharmaceutical Inorganic Chemistry” is prepared in an exhaustive fashion and includes facts that have been brought up to date about the subjects that are covered in the curriculum. Book Synopsis Pharmaceutical Reason by : Andrew Lakoff
Download or read book Pharmaceutical Reason written by Andrew Lakoff and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2006-01-05 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Andrew Lakoff argues that a new 'pharmaceutical' way of thinking about and acting upon mental disorder is coming to reshape not only the field of psychiatry, but also our very notions of self. Drawing from a comprehensive ethnography of psychiatric practice in Argentina (a country which boasts the most psychoanalysts per capita in the world) Lakoff looks at new ways of understanding and intervening in human behaviour. He charts the globalization of pharmacology, particularily the global impact of US psychiatry and US models of illness, and further illustrates the clashes, conflicts, alliances and reformulations that take place when psychoanalytic and psychopharmacological models of illness and cure meet. Highlighting the social and political implications that these new forms of expertise about human behaviour and human thought bring, Lakoff presents an arresting case-study that will appeal to scholars and students alike.

Book Synopsis Mechanisms of Drug Interactions by : Patrick F. D'Arcy
Download or read book Mechanisms of Drug Interactions written by Patrick F. D'Arcy and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the years a number of excellent books have classified and detailed drug drug interactions into their respective categories, e.g. interactions at plasma protein binding sites; those altering intestinal absorption or bioavailability; those involving hepatic metabolising enzymes; those involving competition or antagonism for receptor sites, and drug interactions modifying excretory mechanisms. Such books have presented extensive tables of interactions and their management. Although of considerable value to clinicians, such publica tions have not, however, been so expressive about the individual mechanisms that underlie these interactions. It is within this sphere of "mechanisms" that this present volume specialises. It deals with mechanisms of in vitro and in vivo, drug-drug, drug food and drug-herbals interactions and those that cause drugs to interfere with diagnostic laboratory tests. We believe that an explanation of the mechanisms of such interactions will enable practitioners to understand more fully the nature of the interactions and thus enable them to manage better their clinical outcome. If mechanisms of interactions are better understood, then it may be pos sible for the researcher to develop meaningful animal/biochemical/tissue cul ture or physicochemical models to which new molecules could be exposed during their development stages. The present position, which largely relies on patients experiencing adverse interactions before they can be established or documented, can hardly be regarded as satisfactory. This present volume is classified into two major parts; firstly, pharmacoki netic drug interactions and, secondly, pharmacodynamic drug interactions.
