Download or read book Catalysis written by James J Spivey and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2024-03-27 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Looking at modern approaches to catalysis, this volume reviews the extensive literature published on this area. Chapter highlights include Fenton chemistry, advanced manufacturing in heterogeneous catalysis, membrane reactors for light alkane dehydrogenation, and new insights and enhancement of biocatalysts for biomass conversion in the bioproducts industry. Appealing to researchers in academia and industry, the detailed chapters bridge the gap from academic studies in the laboratory to practical applications in industry, not only for the catalysis field, but also for environmental protection. The book will be of great benefit to any researcher wanting a succinct reference on developments in this area now and looking to the future.

This book was released on 2021-06-29 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding the evolution and advances of energy conversion is critical to meet today's energy demands while lowering emissions in the fight against climate change. One advancement within nuclear plants that continues to gain interest is molten salt reactors and integrated molten salt reactors, which are the new proposed generation IV small modular reactors. To get up to speed on the latest technology, Molten Salt Reactors and Integrated Molten Salt Reactors: Integrated Power Conversion delivers a critical reference covering the main steps for the application of these reactors. Creating a more environmentally friendly energy production methodology, the reference reviews the past, current, and future states of the reactors including pros and cons, designs and safety features involved, and additional references. Included in the reference is a new approach to energy conversion technology, including coverage on material, economic, and technical challenges towards waste heat recovery, power conversion systems, and advanced computational materials proposed for generation IV systems. Advanced nuclear open air-brayton cycles are also included for higher efficiency. Rounding out with guidance on avoiding salt freezing and salt cleanup for fission and fusion reactors, Molten Salt Reactors and Integrated Molten Salt Reactors: Integrated Power Conversion provides today's nuclear engineer and power plant engineer with the impactful content of rising efficiency in molten salt reactors, ultimately leading to more efficient and affordable electricity. - Gain the latest applications and steps to implement modular reactors, including safety and technical considerations - Learn an innovative approach to nuclear air combined cycles (NACC), bringing down the costs of producing electricity in nuclear power plants - Practice techniques and computer modeling with additional appendices that include experimental validation methods and computer code results

Book Synopsis Thorium Rod Blanket Study for Thermal Breeder Reactor by :
Download or read book Thorium Rod Blanket Study for Thermal Breeder Reactor written by and published by . This book was released on 1955 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A two-region thermal breeder consisting of a homogeneous core of U233O2SO4 in D2O and a blanket of thorium metal rods suspended in D2O is investigated from the standpoint of the economics of such a reactor as a central station power producer. Blanket thickness and thorium concentration are optimized, and the optimized thorium rod blanket reactor is compared with a similar reactor having a ThO2 slurry blanket. From this comparison, power costs are found to be about 9% higher in the case of the thorium rod blanket. A novel blanket design consisting of rotating cylindrical assemblies is suggested as a method for reducing Pa233 losses, and some aspects of the design of such a blanket is considered.
