Book Synopsis Model Predictive Control of Microgrids by : Carlos Bordons
Download or read book Model Predictive Control of Microgrids written by Carlos Bordons and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-09-12 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book shows how the operation of renewable-energy microgrids can be facilitated by the use of model predictive control (MPC). It gives readers a wide overview of control methods for microgrid operation at all levels, ranging from quality of service, to integration in the electricity market. MPC-based solutions are provided for the main control issues related to energy management and optimal operation of microgrids. The authors present MPC techniques for case studies that include different renewable sources – mainly photovoltaic and wind – as well as hybrid storage using batteries, hydrogen and supercapacitors. Experimental results for a pilot-scale microgrid are also presented, as well as simulations of scheduling in the electricity market and integration of electric and hybrid vehicles into the microgrid. in order to replicate the examples provided in the book and to develop and validate control algorithms on existing or projected microgrids. Model Predictive Control of Microgrids will interest researchers and practitioners, enabling them to keep abreast of a rapidly developing field. The text will also help to guide graduate students through processes from the conception and initial design of a microgrid through its implementation to the optimization of microgrid management. Advances in Industrial Control reports and encourages the transfer of technology in control engineering. The rapid development of control technology has an impact on all areas of the control discipline. The series offers an opportunity for researchers to present an extended exposition of new work in all aspects of industrial control.

Some strategies are based on machine learning algorithms such as artificial neural networks, Bayes, and k-nearest neighbors. The book also includes source code for illustrating out-of-sample backtesting, around 2,000 bibliographic references, and more than 900 glossary, acronym and math definitions. The presentation is intended to be descriptive and pedagogical and of particular interest to finance practitioners, traders, researchers, academics, and business school and finance program students.
Book Synopsis Multilingual Glossary of Automatic Control Technology by : H.A. Prime
Download or read book Multilingual Glossary of Automatic Control Technology written by H.A. Prime and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1995 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This extensive work is the first dictionary in the field of automatic control to cover the technical terms of the field in these eight languages. It will certainly prove itself a valuable aid to all control engineers and systems scientists and will undoubtedly become the recognized standard for the technical terms in this field. Engineers and scientists will also find it a great help when writing research papers for publication in English language journals and preparing oral presentations at scientific conferences. This unique dictionary contains over 1600 terms covering the entire field of control and automation, derived from the technical committees of IFAC (the International Federation of Automatic Control) and the conferences that it organizes. To facilitate its use in all eight languages the dictionary is divided into two main sections. Firstly, the 1600 technical terms are arranged alphabetically in English with their equivalents in the other languages listed along the page. The second section consists of alphabetical listings in the other seven languages with each term numbered to correspond with the English term in the first section. The Chinese, Japanese and Russian entries all appear in their own alphabet and with roman transliterations to permit wider use. Published by Pergamon in collaboration with IFAC, the International Federation of Automatic Control.

Book Synopsis Option Pricing and Estimation of Financial Models with R by : Stefano M. Iacus
Download or read book Option Pricing and Estimation of Financial Models with R written by Stefano M. Iacus and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-02-23 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents inference and simulation of stochastic process in the field of model calibration for financial times series modelled by continuous time processes and numerical option pricing. Introduces the bases of probability theory and goes on to explain how to model financial times series with continuous models, how to calibrate them from discrete data and further covers option pricing with one or more underlying assets based on these models. Analysis and implementation of models goes beyond the standard Black and Scholes framework and includes Markov switching models, Lévy models and other models with jumps (e.g. the telegraph process); Topics other than option pricing include: volatility and covariation estimation, change point analysis, asymptotic expansion and classification of financial time series from a statistical viewpoint. The book features problems with solutions and examples. All the examples and R code are available as an additional R package, therefore all the examples can be reproduced.

Book Synopsis Evolutionary Computer Vision by : Gustavo Olague
Download or read book Evolutionary Computer Vision written by Gustavo Olague and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-28 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explains the theory and application of evolutionary computer vision, a new paradigm where challenging vision problems can be approached using the techniques of evolutionary computing. This methodology achieves excellent results for defining fitness functions and representations for problems by merging evolutionary computation with mathematical optimization to produce automatic creation of emerging visual behaviors. In the first part of the book the author surveys the literature in concise form, defines the relevant terminology, and offers historical and philosophical motivations for the key research problems in the field. For researchers from the computer vision community, he offers a simple introduction to the evolutionary computing paradigm. The second part of the book focuses on implementing evolutionary algorithms that solve given problems using working programs in the major fields of low-, intermediate- and high-level computer vision. This book will be of value to researchers, engineers, and students in the fields of computer vision, evolutionary computing, robotics, biologically inspired mechatronics, electronics engineering, control, and artificial intelligence.
