Il a attiré l'attention de beaucoup de chercheurs pendant les deux dernières décades. Il y a beaucoup d'applications dans la vie réelle, telles que l'endoscopie, la cartographie de zones difficilement accessibles ou bien encore les micro-drones qui peuvent tirer avantage d'avoir la possibilité de reconstruire et de reconnaitre leur environnement en 3D. Les systèmes existants permettant ces traitements sont trop encombrant et énergivores pour satisfaire les contraintes liées à ces applications qui sont utilisées dans des systèmes embarqués. Malgré les nombreuses méthodes proposées, une solution efficace et complète pour ce problème n'a pas encore été trouvée. Pour répondre aux besoins de ces applications, nous présentons dans ce mémoire le projet Cyclope, un capteur de vision 3D intégré sans fil. Ce capteur se base sur la vision stéréoscopique active pour restituer le relief en 3D, et sur les machines à vecteurs de supports pour la discrimination des objets. L'architecture que nous proposons pour réaliser un tel capteur satisfait aux contraintes définies dans le cadre du projet : fort degré d'intégration, grande précision, traitement temps réel, et faible consommation.

Cette nécessité a conduit à la réalisation des dispositifs macroscopiques qui avaient tous comme point commun la perception du relief de l'environnement humain. Ces systèmes utilisent diverses méthodes de reconstruction: stéréoscopie passive ou active, temps de vols, etc. Les avancées technologiques laissent entrevoir la possibilité de réaliser des systèmes intégrés de vision en trois dimensions sur puce. Cela ouvre de nouveaux champs applicatifs, comme la vision précise en trois dimensions in vivo dans le corps humain lors d'examen de type endoscopique. A ce jour peu de travaux tendent à concevoir un capteur intégré polyvalent malgré les avantages évidents pour ces nouvelles applications. Jusque là, la principale restriction était due à la taille, à la vitesse de fonctionnement ou à la consommation des appareils. Pour répondre aux besoins d'applications émergentes telles que l'endoscopie 3D, le projet Cyclope a été lancé. Il s'agit d'une action de recherche au sein de laquelle est étudiée la conception d’un capteur de vision 3D intégré temps-réel avec des capacités de communication sans fil basées sur la stéréoscopie active. Ce capteur est alors capable de fournir une représentation texturée en trois dimensions d'une scène. Cette thèse traite de l'analyse des solutions envisageables pour la réalisation d'une instrumentation d'acquisition et de projection du motif et de sa mise en oeuvre. La principale contrainte de notre application consiste en l'acquisition quasi simultanée de la texture de l'image dans le spectre du visible et du motif projeté. Ayant opté pour un laser pulsé dont sa longueur d'onde est dans le proche infrarouge, pour ne pas dénaturer la scène, plusieurs solutions étaient possibles. Malheureusement, aucune d'entre elles n'étaient pleinement satisfaisante. Dans ce contexte, j'ai opté pour une approche d'acquisition énergétique et temporelle basée sur l'existence d'un gap énergétique entre la scène et le motif projeté à cette longueur d'onde. Un démonstrateur macroscopique a été réalisé afin de valider notre approche et d'estimer ces performances. L'ensemble est composé d'une caméra CMOS dotée de CAN 8 bits externe, d'un projecteur de motif infrarouge générant une matrice de 49 points, d'une carte FPGA Xilinx Virtex2Pro et d'un module de communication sans fil ZIGBEE. Sur le FPGA est mis en oeuvre les architectures de contrôle et de synchronisation, de pré-traitements, de reconstruction et de communication. Les performances du systèmes ont été évaluées selon trois axes distincts: les performances de la séparation motif/arrière plan pour différentes conditions d'utilisation, l'impact de la méthode sur la précision de la reconstruction et enfin l'estimation de la consommation énergétique globale du système pour plusieurs cibles.

Book excerpt: Dans le cadre de la conception d'un capteur de vision 3D pour la conduite automobile, nous présentons une approche coopérative pour la détection de piéton. Celle-ci a été conçue en intégrant deux processus différents : le premier intègre des traitements monoculaires et le second, des traitements stéréoscopiques. A partir du modèle de piéton utilisé par les traitements monoculaires, il en résulte des rectangles englobant les piétons. Cependant, de fausses détections peuvent survenir suite à la présence d'objet dont les caractéristiques sont similaires à celles d'un piéton. En effet, les traitements monoculaires ne sont pas capables de prendre en compte toutes les caractéristiques des piétons, notamment les caractéristiques 3D. De plus, la distance des piétons n'est pas calculée précisément. Ces problèmes sont résolus en utilisant un second processus qui intègre des traitements stéréoscopiques dans lequel sont implémentés des algorithmes robustes et auto-adaptatifs fournissant une carte de profondeur des contours caractéristiques. La coopération entre les deux processus consiste premièrement à valider les rectangles englobant par la présence des courbes verticales 3D. Les informations de profondeur de ces courbes 3D permettent également de retrouver précisément la distance des objets et ainsi de reconstruire les rectangles englobant, issus des traitements monoculaires. Dans une deuxième étape, différentes sources de primitives sont fusionnées. Un taux de croyance relatif à la présence ou non des piétons est alors obtenu. Puis, dans une troisième étape, deux images acquises à des instants successifs sont utilisées afin de retrouver les piétons qui n'auraient pas été détectés, ainsi que pour lever les ambiguïtés sur les piétons. Le filtre de Kalman est alors utilisé pour suivre le déplacement temporel de ces piétons dans la scène. La robustesse et la fiabilité des algorithmes sont étudiés à partir de scènes réelles possédant des conditions de visibilité différentes.

Such processing is called signal reconstruction. This book is devoted to a recent and original approach to signal reconstruction based on combining two independent ideas: local polynomial approximation and the intersection of confidence interval rule.
