Book excerpt: L'OBJECTIF DE CE TRAVAIL CONCERNE LA DETERMINATION DES TEMPERATURES ET DENSITES DE FLUX SURFACIQUES MOYENS D'UN DISQUE ET D'UNE PLAQUETTE DE FREIN AU MOYEN D'UNE METHODE INVERSE DE TYPE DIFFERENCES FINIES SEQUENTIELLE. LES DONNEES PROVIENNENT D'UNE SERIE D'ESSAIS SPECIFIQUES REALISES DANS UN CENTRE D'ESSAI, SUR UN VEHICULE INSTRUMENTE. L'ORIGINALITE DE CE PROBLEME INVERSE DE CONDUCTION DE LA CHALEUR (P.I.C.C) RESIDE DANS LE TRAITEMENT DES TERMES DE TRANSPORT DE L'EQUATION DE DIFFUSION DE LA CHALEUR (CAS DU DISQUE) ET L'INTRODUCTION D'UNE LOI D'USURE AVEC FRONTIERE MOBILE (CAS DES PLAQUETTES). LE PROBLEME EST MONODIMENSIONNEL, NON LINEAIRE. APRES UNE ETUDE BIBLIOGRAPHIQUE PORTANT SUR LES PROBLEMES THERMIQUES LIES AU FREINAGE ET SUR LEUR MODELISATION, NOUS PRESENTONS UNE SIMULATION NUMERIQUE D'UN SCENARIO-TYPE DE FREINAGE. UNE DESCRIPTION DE LA METHODE INVERSE UTILISEE, AINSI QU'UNE ETUDE DE SON COMPORTEMENT ET DE SA SENSIBILITE AUX ERREURS LIEES A LA METROLOGIE SONT ENSUITE PROPOSEES. DES CONCLUSIONS RELATIVES AU CHOIX DE L'EMPLACEMENT DES CAPTEURS ET D'UN SCENARIO DE FREINAGE SONT DEGAGEES. ON DECRIT ENSUITE LES CARACTERISTIQUES DES ESSAIS SELECTIONNES (GEOMETRIE DES ELEMENTS INSTRUMENTES, EMPLACEMENT DES THERMOCOUPLES, PROTOCOLES D'ESSAIS) DEUX ESSAIS, COMPORTANT CHACUN 30 CYCLES DE FREINAGE/ACCELERATION, SONT DEPOUILLES ET COMMENTES DANS LE CAS DU DISQUE. NOUS PRESENTONS ET COMMENTONS SOUS FORME GRAPHIQUE LES ESTIMATIONS DE TEMPERATURES ET DENSITES DE FLUX SURFACIQUES, AINSI QU'UNE EVALUATION DES COEFFICIENTS D'ECHANGES CONVECTIFS MOYENS. UNE COMPARAISON AVEC DES CORRELATIONS EST AMORCEE. UNE PRISE EN COMPTE DES PHENOMENES D'USURE S'IMPOSE POUR LES TROIS ESSAIS MENES SUR LES PLAQUETTES. DE MEME, LA MISE EN EVIDENCE DU COMPORTEMENT ATYPIQUE DE CERTAINS CAPTEURS REND NECESSAIRE UNE DEMARCHE ADAPTEE. DE LA MEME FACON, LES TEMPERATURES ET DENSITES DE FLUX SURFACIQUES SONT PRESENTEES ET ANALYSEES

Book excerpt: This new, third volume of Cohen-Tannoudji's groundbreaking textbook covers advanced topics of quantum mechanics such as uncorrelated and correlated identical particles, the quantum theory of the electromagnetic field, absorption, emission and scattering of photons by atoms, and quantum entanglement. Written in a didactically unrivalled manner, the textbook explains the fundamental concepts in seven chapters which are elaborated in accompanying complements that provide more detailed discussions, examples and applications. * Completing the success story: the third and final volume of the quantum mechanics textbook written by 1997 Nobel laureate Claude Cohen-Tannoudji and his colleagues Bernard Diu and Franck Laloë * As easily comprehensible as possible: all steps of the physical background and its mathematical representation are spelled out explicitly * Comprehensive: in addition to the fundamentals themselves, the books comes with a wealth of elaborately explained examples and applications Claude Cohen-Tannoudji was a researcher at the Kastler-Brossel laboratory of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris where he also studied and received his PhD in 1962. In 1973 he became Professor of atomic and molecular physics at the Collège des France. His main research interests were optical pumping, quantum optics and atom-photon interactions. In 1997, Claude Cohen-Tannoudji, together with Steven Chu and William D. Phillips, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his research on laser cooling and trapping of neutral atoms. Bernard Diu was Professor at the Denis Diderot University (Paris VII). He was engaged in research at the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics and High Energy where his focus was on strong interactions physics and statistical mechanics. Franck Laloë was a researcher at the Kastler-Brossel laboratory of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. Book Synopsis Faecal Sludge Management by : Linda Strande
Download or read book Faecal Sludge Management written by Linda Strande and published by IWA Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-15 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is estimated that literally billions of residents in urban and peri-urban areas of Africa, Asia, and Latin America are served by onsite sanitation systems (e.g. various types of latrines and septic tanks). Until recently, the management of faecal sludge from these onsite systems has been grossly neglected, partially as a result of them being considered temporary solutions until sewer-based systems could be implemented. However, the perception of onsite or decentralized sanitation technologies for urban areas is gradually changing, and is increasingly being considered as long-term, sustainable options in urban areas, especially in low- and middle-income countries that lack sewer infrastructures. This is the first book dedicated to faecal sludge management. It compiles the current state of knowledge of the rapidly evolving field of faecal sludge management, and presents an integrated approach that includes technology, management, and planning based on Sandecs 20 years of experience in the field. Faecal Sludge Management: Systems Approach for Implementation and Operation addresses the organization of the entire faecal sludge management service chain, from the collection and transport of sludge, and the current state of knowledge of treatment options, to the final end use or disposal of treated sludge. The book also presents important factors to consider when evaluating and upscaling new treatment technology options. The book is designed for undergraduate and graduate students, and engineers and practitioners in the field who have some basic knowledge of environmental and/or wastewater engineering.

Book excerpt: Mario Paz has, in the Romantic Agony, acutely analyzed the effect of the traditions of Byron and De Sade upon poets and painters from 1800 to 1900. It is the analysis of a mood in literature. The mood may ve been transient, but it was widespread, and it was expressed in dreams of "luxurious cruelties," "fatal women," corpse-passions, and the sinful agonies of delight. Professo Praz has described the whole Romantic literature under one of its most characteristic aspects, that of erotic sensibility.
