Book Synopsis Adsorption From Solution by : R. H. Ottewill
Download or read book Adsorption From Solution written by R. H. Ottewill and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adsorption From Solution discusses the significance of adsorption behavior in thermodynamic terms, with emphasis on the interplay between enthalpic and entropic contributions to the free energy. This book examines the role of simple models and of elementary thermodynamic and statistical mechanical arguments in relation to the concept of surface phase. Organized into 22 chapters, this book starts with an overview of the theoretical model for the solid/liquid interface. This text then proceeds with a discussion of the general thermodynamic treatment of adsorption from mixed solvents, which is designed to apply in situations where adsorbed species may be regarded as distinct from their bulk counterparts. Other chapters discuss the adsorption from solutions of various interfaces of liquid/gas, liquid/liquid, or liquid/solid. The final chapter deals with the roles of adsorption from solution in controlling other phenomena, such as liquid–liquid displacement, wetting, and the forces between colloidal particles. Physicists, chemists, and materials scientists will find this book extremely useful.
Book Synopsis The Molecular Theory of Adsorption in Porous Solids by : Yury Konstantinovich Tovbin
Download or read book The Molecular Theory of Adsorption in Porous Solids written by Yury Konstantinovich Tovbin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-10-17 with total page 780 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the adsorption phenomenon the substances from the external environment the gas or liquid are absorbed by a solid surface (adsorbent). Adsorption is used to separate gaseous and liquid mixtures, for drying and purification of gases and liquids. This reference broadly explores the calculation of the equilibrium and dynamic characteristics of adsorption in porous bodies at the molecular level. Two new theories of statistical physics are presented, both developed by the author for the consistent description of the equilibrium distribution of molecules and dynamics of flows in complex porous materials to be able to solve a wide range of practical tasks in the development of new technologies.
Book Synopsis Equilibria and Dynamics of Gas Adsorption on Heterogeneous Solid Surfaces by : W.A. Steele

This book was released on 1996-12-17 with total page 909 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fact that the surfaces of real solids are geometrically distorted and chemically non-uniform has long been realized by the scientists investigating various phenomena occurring on solid surfaces. Even in the case when diffraction experiments show a well-organized bulk solid structure, the surface atoms or molecules will usually exhibit a much smaller degree of surface organization. In addition to the results obtained from electron diffraction, this can be seen in the impressive images obtained from STM and AFM microscopies. This geometric and chemical disorder is the source of the energetic heterogeneity for molecules adsorbing on real solid surfaces. Hundreds of papers have been published showing that this heterogeneity is a major factor in determining the behaviour of real adsorption systems.Studies of adsorption on energetically heterogeneous surfaces have proceeded along three somewhat separate paths, with only minor coupling of ideas. One was the study of adsorption equilibria on heterogeneous solid surfaces. The second path was the study of time evolution of adsorption processes such as surface diffusion or adsorption-desorption kinetics on heterogeneous surfaces, and the third was the study of adsorption in porous solids, or more generally, adsorption in systems with limited dimensions. The present monograph is a first attempt to provide a synthesis of the ways that surface geometric and energetic heterogeneities affect both the equilibria and the time evolution of adsorption on real solids. The book contains 17 chapters written by a team of internationally recognized specialists, some of whom have already published books on adsorption.

Book Synopsis Adsorption Technology and Design by : Barry Crittenden
Download or read book Adsorption Technology and Design written by Barry Crittenden and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1998-02-17 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adsorption is of considerable industrial importance and is a major part of many different processes throughout the chemical and process industries, including many reactions - chemical and bio-chemical, purification and filtration, gas and liquid processing and catalysis. Adsorption is a complex process and this makes the correct design and implementation of its operation all the more critical. The aim of this book is to provide all those involved in designing and running adsorption processes with a straightforward guide to the essentials of adsorption technology and design. It will therefore be an important addition to the bookshelves of both student and professional chemical, plant and process engineers in industries as varied as the petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food processing fields.
